The dramatic cost rises and/or lack of supply of stuff, and the implications of the lead ban, if it goes through as is, will just kill it.
I'm lucky that I live so close to Bisley, and could realistically drop down to half a dozen shoots a year with the club as affordable, but, realistically I can't see me renewing my ticket in 2026. Not even sure about the SGC either with the huge price hike of 12g.....it costs more for a morning clay busting than a morning on the full-bore range!! And if the ramifications of Plymouth manifest to SGC as could be the case if the politicians get their way, it will kill clay clubs. I know about half of the guys at my clay club say they'll stop if that happens.

I still love classic bikes, but I can't ride them anymore, so couldn't bare to have a lovely Triumph T110 or Beezer Road Rocket sitting in the garage that I couldn't ride.....that would be torture!

Funny how within the space of just a few years, events have conspired to completely change what just 5 years ago, a lot of us thought our retirement enjoyment plan would be.

As you say, c'est la vie.



Yes it’s slightly mad really,
I’ve just renewed and gone conterminous for the first time in over 40 years!
My FAC and SGC were always 2.5 years apart so I never bothered!
But this way I’ve got another 5 years to bail!
I figure by then there will be houses on every bit of space around here!

Quite ironic really as I’ll be picking up my new custom boomers soon,
Can’t bail as I’ve to much in the hole already
Plus i wouldn’t let the seller down
A deals a deal………….

Still looking forward to having them in the safes though!
Bragging rights if nothing else laugh

Needs a bit of body work though, and a hood repair.....and a new repro steering wheel fitted to replace that horrible thing currently fitted. I also wonder if the headlight motors are busted, as all the photos show the headlights popped up, so wonder if they've been manually pulled up and locked in place.
It's a base 300hp motor as well, as doesn't have the finned Corvette valve covers.
Wonder what its like underneath though, and the bird cage etc??
I'm not a great lover of yellow cars, but the '65 Goldwood Yellow, and '66 Sunfire Yellow looks great on a C2.

My days of the star's aligning are long gone . i would lose playing snap with someone with a bad stutter.

I knew the FIA Cobra from when i took my Shelby clone to Surrey Mustangs

for work where i would see it there , then in yellow . The car changed hands and i lost track of it.

Did some digging with Jerry Hawkridge and Red Line who built the engine and managed to get the new owners telephone number a Guy called

Alex Buncombe a professional racing driver, only to find out the car was at a Rolls and Bentley specialist on SOR for a months and he was keen

to sell it , We made arrangements for me to collect the Cobra from his house after agreeing a price only to find that when he called the garage to arrange

to collect it they had just taken a deposit ,so much for my star's aligning, this dragged on with Alex having no car or money for weeks,

He later found out that his car had been sitting in it's new owners garage somewhere up the north while the garage still hasn't paid him

This left both of us pretty pissed by now. i missed the car by one day after it had been for sale for months with Alex eventually getting paid .

So would be nice if i can get my hands on it second time round but not holding my breath.

Had a good day at the NEC, there were more cars on show than i remember last year,

Loved the colour of the gen one Camaro ,my nipper said it looked a bit girly so i suppose that sums me up then, ,

Think it sold for £32K + commission but it was MINT,

The T/bird sold but i don't know what it went for ,should be in the results tomorrow,

The C2 coupe was a nice car despite it's brown/copper colour, Ralley wheels made it look a bit plain Jane,

Could have done with a set of factory Knock on wheels also there was no factory side pipes .

Added to which it had a auto box. The Nash didn't sell at twenty something .

The manual Notch back in a very nice blue looked good considering it was restored in Spain and the fastback would have looked better without the stripes

leaving it in period white with red trim but needed painting really with micro blistering showing under the strong lights,

Both of them are being auctioned off on Sunday,

Crazy price of the day was a Mini 1275 GT ,one lady owner,11,000 miles ,been barn stored with 30 plus years of dirt and dust still on it ,

the engine bay looked like it had spent that time under water,

Estimate was £10K-£12K and sold for £38K plus 12% commission,

The bidding was fast and manic ,bang,bang ,bang all over the room ,never seen bidding like it where other cars had to be coaxed

up to near the reserve taking forever.. Think i counted 9 mini's being auctioned today, think we must be doing this all wrong

Perhaps P5BNij could teach us a thing or two rolleyes

That 1275GT has been the talk of the town in Mini circles, with the Coopers now being silly money the ‘lesser’ models are following in their wake.

I really liked that Camaro, girly or not I’d be happy driving that around, surprised it’s a three on the tree. I’d change the wheels on it though, a set of 15” Rallys or grey Torque Thrusts would finish it off nicely. Agree on the stripes on the fastback Mustang, it would look better without them.

Did you see the 1940s Firetruck...? It looked like a life sized Matchbox toy wink

Strange days indeed!

I scrapped a Mini Cooper in the mid 80's as it was worth more in parts.

I also had a nice lime green Ford Mexico that I struggled to get £300 for...

Crystal ball was needed methinks?

Practical classics are all the rage now.

440ci R/T Chargers are getting the elbow...



I liked the colour so much I painted my GTX the samish hue...

I never had a Challenger as they was always TOO expensive lol...

But a 392 hemi Challenger in my favourite colour is about the right money now methinks???




This makes a 50 year old Challenger seem rather 'old hat'...(at £30k)

Le Mans Green was the name of that Ford colour (or Yucky Green as it was often jokingly referred to within the various Ford clubs)

The Camaro was auto but on the column which would mean it started life as a basic car,

The Fire truck along with the C2 was in a past Historics sale but didn't sale,the owner had 6 cars in this auction but only

sold 2 of them according to the results,

It's amazing how the hammer price gets so inflated when you see the final figue when the commission is added on .

The Camaro hammer price was £32K ending up nearer £40K, difficult to equate when in the heat of the moment while biidding .

So many of the 'cheapskate' Septics wanted 'the look' but didn't want to pay the price for the features that made the cars even partly worthwhile (like base 8 banger, disc brakes, 4 speed floor shift, individual front seats, power brakes and steering), Even supposedly more upmarket Mustangs wouldn't come as stock with the best interior. A bit like the UK buyer fancying the idea of a Mexico but only able to afford a base 1100 cc Popular........at least if the cheapest it would have just two doors I guess!
I recall buying a '69 or '70 Mustang convertible for 'er indoors (to replace her Mustang 11 Ghia) - It was originally bought new in the 'States by a Brit who moved out to the 'States in the late 60's and being sold here in the UK by his nephew who bought it back to the UK. This was potentially a great car in a maroon colour, he had spec'd Pony trim and some of the external trim options. It had an electric hood and looked the business.........but he had spec'd smallest 6 banger engine, three speed floor change........4 stud drum brakes (can't recall if power brakes or steering).....didn't drive it before I bought it - towing it back home with a dolly behind a Cortina. Anyway the very first time I drove the thing I realised how bad it was with its base 6 pot engine. It reminded me of a FX3 London taxi........really quick away from the traffic lights for the first 10 yards or so in first gear..............into second and........absolutely nothing......gutless and slow. Sold it off immediately to someone prepared to upgrade to proper brakes and V8 engine!

You did the right thing,would have been a tin of worms once started and you wound never of been happy with it.

On to the next one which back then wouldn't have been a lot more.

TBH Jon I think that an early 6 pot Mustang coupe is a great thing........if left alone and left for what is was originally - i.e. a budget priced, relatively economical runaround........sensible car perhaps if selected with auto box and a few options.......'was' a worthwhile 'entry' point for an early Mustang at a comparatively sensible price........'was' being the operative word here!

I briefly had a 250 cu 74’ Firebird proper poverty level car,
3 speed manual in console,
Oddly the buyer had specced a TA rear ducktail,
Dis’cs and rally wheels,
Almost identical to a TA inside, apart from less gauges!
Drove bloody lovely, ok it wasn’t fast but bowled along just fine and actually handled very well,
All the Machismo and returned 20 mpg,

That is a stunning car ,have known it for around 25 years and the two owners within that time ,both in Sussex,

Did have around 22,000 genuine miles on the clock then . ,

Even the white paint is original along with the like new blue interior,

A real time warp car , had a 64 white convertlble 98 and as you say very comparable to a Caddy,

Seem to remember the hood catches were the same as my Caddy convertible.

In fact i drove it as a daily for most of the summer months.

ERA make the best and most accurate, as well as affordable Cobra kit replicas. Shame they don't have a UK distributor.
Getting an ERA Cobra through UK IVA would be a challenge, as there is no, IVA compliant 'kit of many parts' to have the 'loan of' to get it through IVA.

lovely car, but zero desirability for probably 90% of potential yank buyers,
a few of us on here would love it, but the dick ed, John Wick prick wouldnt give a second thought for it,

i personal think the 72' Mercury Marquis is the only thing a ebay worth looking at, looks a fab machine, 428, fender skirts the works , stunning show boat for 13K ball park, 11 will have it home.....................
