Yes I saw the Falcon last night, nice looking body shape and proportions for its size, shame about the six though, if I really wanted a six I'd go with the Corvair...!

A few more yanks popping up on ebay over the last week or so, they seem to be coming out of the woodwork now that Spring has sprung -

'71 Firebird.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1971-Pontiac-Firebird-F...

'69 'vette.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Corvette-Stingray-1969-...

'72 'vette.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHEVROLET-CORVETTE-STIN...redfaceX8AAOSwKyxffJij

I'm finding this '68 T-Bird strangely alluring but it's too big anyway.... would look better with a contrasting roof colour.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Thunderbird-1968-s...
Not a lover of the T/bird ,In my head that's when it all went wrong,
Don't think it would be that easy to sell either.
I'm with RR on this one - pug-ugly car, yet has an interior to die for - much like the earlier '58 - '61 TBirds, great interiors 'questionable' exteriors.
Had to chuckle at that because it's dawning on me that I like a lot more American cars than I thought I did, cars that few others would give a second glance. When I started posting yank nostalgia in the 'period classics' thread about a year ago I was getting seriously carried away with the whole Americana thing and it shows no signs of abating (Corvette book number two arrived in the post this afternoon!). Much of it stems from a childhood watching imported TV shows with my Dad like 'The Streets Of San Francisco', 'The Invaders', 'Harry O', 'The Rockford Files' etc. It wasn't so much the 'star' cars that each series had but the various makes and styles of cars in the background, in their own way just as exotic as the more obvious and mind bogglingly expensive European stuff, the fastback Impala two doors, huge Ford Galaxies or even a pastel coloured Mustang coupe with Dinky toy hubcaps often caught my eye and looked like something I'd love to own own day. There is a line I won't cross though, that period in the early '70s when front end designs started to resemble vertical cliff faces and just looked ugly and out of place. Just horrible!

I enquired about this yesterday, but he said he'd had an offer at full asking. I got the impression (maybe wrongly) that he was hoping I'd offer more, but I'm not going there. It does look great though I think.

If the offer is kosher it looks like some cars are shifting at their asking prices.

Just found this lurking in my hard drive, another Rick McCloskey classic taken on Van Nuys Boulevard in the summer of '72....

Heady days of Cali cruising...or where were you in '72 in that case laugh

Got to experience it just the once, at the end of the cruising era in 1987 on my first trip to USA, and on a much smaller scale in a smaller city/town, but it's still a great memory, of what is now a long gone slice of Americana.

Don't go there unless new or newish with some form of manufactures warranty left, Heard DB 9's and early Bentley Continental's can be a

electrical nightmare ,Been again today to see if she will start even kicking it and swearing in Italian doesn't work, sooooooooo many different

opinions on the forum

although all ignition lights are on and turning over had several suggestions that could be immobilier, Because i think it's not spinning quick

enough even with new battery it could be bad earth but to scared to try the usual method just in case i blow the ecu's which i may have done

already. also several suggestions of crankshaft sender and various senders that i've never heard of. confused

Don't do it nono ,keep to what we know, Looks like the truck and putting myself at the mercy of the Lambo and Ferrari specialists.yikes

Did talk to the guy with the black 68 Camaro on C&C having a 6 speed box ,thought he may not be adversed to a modern p/x ,

He didn't say no ,asked for photo's which i left to my nipper to sort out, problem is it's a backward deal for him which is not what most sellers

want plus he's got a lot of interest so think it will be gone by the time i sort the Gallardo out so not holding my breath..

With the clip off hopefully will give you more mobility and less pain, could be driving in a couple of weeks ,be no stopping you then driving

What a difference a iconic engine name can make, almost making the white 440 6 pack look a bargain at either price

whether it be the auction £59K or the current £79K .

The black Camaro ref no is C1324615 listed under Classic cars not American cars .

My eldest sister went over to the states in '87 and drove from the east to the west coast in a rented Dodge something or other, she spent a couple of nights in LA cruising about and said it was great, despite not actually being a petrolhead. I remember asking her to bring me a slice of Americana / automobilia back for me, I ended up with an 'Easy Rider' film poster and a Doors LP which I already owned a copy of!

I could look at those Rick McCloskey Van Nuys images all day long.... pootling round the North Circular in a Peugeot combi van just isn't the same is it..... wink

If you can carry out a full emergency stop, then you can drive. I believe it was your left knee so not a problem if you have an auto

Going from when 2 people I know had the same op, it might be more a case of whether he can bend the knee enough to get in the car?

My mate (really!) is an arch haggler and keeps saying we should bid him in the ***** on this but I can't see it, it's too rich for me at present but I suspect it's priced about right?

Cheers for the input guys! , yeah getting in the thing is the major issue, as my garage is so tight for room i cant open the drivers door to far, so dont think as yet me leg will bend enough lol..................
plus i left foot in a Auto , always have, i'l give it another week then give it a go,

Hey RR have you considered asking TA man if he fancys a deal on the Lambo? which ever which way i guess getting it running is pretty important laugh

Hopefully were on the cusp of some kind of normality now , getting it sorted should'nt be a major drama but i guess due to its nature probably not cheap either !

AS for the Black SS, looks pretty much on the money i'd have thought, almost impossible to reproduce at the money even if one does it ones self,
as stated that be around long,

I really wish my budget would stretch that far, it's a corker.

My Mini should have gone yesterday but the buyer pulled out at the last minute, three months after putting a deposit on it. Have someone else coming to look at it this afternoon though, just want it gone now so I can crack on with something else.

There's a genuine documented, '69 COPO 9560 Camaro (that's the one with the all alloy ZL-1 Can Am big block) for sale in USA at the moment, out of a large collection, at a bargain price of a mere $935,000... smile
