Looks cool, is that your mum with her personal plate
My parents one was same colour as cream body, red top one. Rust magnets - only 6 years old and rust bubbles already on wheel lips, rear of front wings and sills. Amazing that any UK manufactured vehicles are still around from that period! He replaced it with a Mk.X Jag, probably around '68/69, and sold the Californian to a friend of his one street away. I was still walking past the Californian parked on that street on my way to senior school in the mid-70's and it was by then a rust heap, and didn't last must longer.

Hernias I've had one each side. First one caused by our collie long since gone jumping onto my lap and her front paw going straight into my groin. The other side was from coughing.
Me too - when doing my first one the surgeon said "that'll put pressure on the other side - you'll be back to do this in 10 months" - and he was 100% correct, almost to the day! roscobbc said:

Nice when you can make the car your own just by fitting a set of wheels and tyres or steering wheel ,not often do
Most people are perhaps too polite about my wheels - Must admit i prefer the dull Torque Thrusts with polished rims, good job we are all different otherwise we would all be driving the same
car in the same colour with the same wheels.

If you want some that is perhaps a little 'left field', quite rare and with a 428 cu in engine and probably far quicker than similar 60's barges and well on par with 'muscle cars' of the day for £13K (and I know its too big for your garage) - if not sold........

Wonder if thats the same car (owned by Dave Redhead I believe) that used to do all the shows in Essex with a dummy Clint Eastwood in the car c/w faux pistol and police badge often in tandem with a guy with a black Charger. Didn't have the 'right' engine - used a 351 Windsor as I recall........Edited by roscobbc on Sunday 11th April 22:47

Likewise. Some of those 50's and 60's era ranch style houses were utterly fabulous. Fabulous setting, wonder where it is? Be interesting to see what they look like today.
Watched a video the other night on Dean Martins house where he lived with his family in a nice but not over the top neighbourhood,It was vacant and a little tired and run down, the guy didn't go inside just remained in the rear garden and driveway,
Looked very much a 60's single story California house , Being a Dean Martin fan , Mr layback and never seemed to take himself to seriously.
Don't know how long it had been empty or why. A great bit of Rat Pack history.

yours for £125,000...................................................... Ker-ching ! .........................................
for that sort of money, That's the guy from Brighten way, asking £59K for a 66 convertible and £45K for notch backs,
just talking the market up , killer besides the price is obvious to you guys, R.H.D .
On the other hand is he is trying his luck and aiming at the rich tweed market who would be scared off by a L.H.D car.

This thread does make me smile. I like the fact that it is an eclectic mix of chat.
Hernias I've had one each side. First one caused by our collie long since gone jumping onto my lap and her front paw going straight into my groin. The other side was from coughing.
I had a 1990 Bentley Turbo R not that long ago. Midnight blue with parchment hide. Loved that car. Had the transient boost kit fitted. The car went in for the usual rusty arches and it all went south from there. The garage screwed up and had to repaint the whole car. It then languished with my ex mechanic for over a year whilst I waited for him to sort out a faulty replacement steering rack that he fitted. By the time I finally got it back the entire car had paint reaction all over it. Just could not stomach the cost of a full bare metal repaint and sold the car to the shop that painted it. Very very sad as it was a wonderful car. The previous owner named it Hattie and that stuck. There is a thread about it on the Bentley forum.
My old man was into cars. Although he buggered off when I was 7. Mostly Fords and Vauxhalls. The one I loved most was a blue over silver Daimler Majestic Major. I would sit in that car for hours pretending to drive. I don't think he kept it long. He was knocking around with a couple of guys. One had a RR S3 and the other a MK10. I preferred the MK10. Golden sand with red leather.
Do I still think about buying a Daimler Majestic Major or a MK10 / 420G. Sure quite often. But probably left to fond memories rather than the reality until I win the lottery and I can have my 30 car garage.
Do you watch Hoovies Garage on You Tube, he's been having a nightmare with a Turbo R for the last year or so, Hernias I've had one each side. First one caused by our collie long since gone jumping onto my lap and her front paw going straight into my groin. The other side was from coughing.

Every time he thinks it's finished he try's to drive it home from the workshop and something else falls off or goes wrong
and never makes it back ending up on the back of a truck again, he's just put it on a internet auction with no reserve, i'm
sure the pair of you have a lot in common.I bought one from Harwards of Pulborough so a good car ,big improvement
on the 83 Turbo that i had previously, Bought it on price as it was in the worst Bentley colour you could get and they couldn't sell it.
Talking Daimler Majestic Major's ,I went to buy one and ended coming back with two, one was mint in dark metallic grey and the other was
just ok in silver over burgundy but drove as well as the mint one. My claim to fame was spinning it doing a left hand turn coming to a halt
against the pavement hitting both front and rear wheels at the same time facing the wrong way, None of the text stuff works it's such a heavy
car. Had another sideways moment in the grey car hitting some black ice at 6 o'clock in the morning giving my best mates mother a lift to
Heathrow, They never asked me again for some reason, They are no slouch for their size ,that 4.6 V8 really did get going especially
that i'd just came out of a Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire which was a lot more polite ,the Daimler being more of a Hot Rod in comparison.
Our local Mayor had the limousine version for years reg no TR 1, Quite funny really i did pull up along side them one day ,must have
looked odd the Mayor with chauffeur along side me , a youngish long haired hippy looking guy in almost the same car,
If you can buy yourself a MK10 now as i think they are the forgotten Jag , they don't seem to fetch much money compared to the other
models, Really good MK 8/9's seem to to making higher prices after a long time doing nothing, my mates just sold a stunning one
for £75K after a 5 year restoration. The problem with MK 10's is that there to big and wide for most people's garages, I took one to a
guys house because he said if it fits his garage he would buy it ,well it fitted length wise but i grazed it going in as it was so wide,
needless to say he didn't buy it. My dad had a manual gunmetal grey with red interior 3.8 MK10 and we were coming back from London
on the old A 33 road near Winchester about one in the morning doing around 120 and he forgot that there was a narrow hump back bridge
coming up, went over the bridge without touching the brake pedal and literally took off all four wheels leaving the ground, it landed
with a bit of a bang and weaved around a little but stayed straight , if we had been in a MK 2 i think we would have ended up like
Mike Hawthorn. Just remember all of us leaving our seats and banging our heads on the roof. My dads sisters were in the back visiting from
Poland and i think they were asleep and couldn't understand why me and my dad were laughing about it once we realized we got away with it.
Funny never liked Golden sand when it was new but i absolutely love it now especially with either red or that slightly darker tan interiors.
There's one on C&C at the moment but with black trim , a 3.8 fhc ,looks a nice car at not to silly price at £85K leaving enough to change the
trim colour and Tom Hartley got another golden sand one with the tan interior ,looks like new but big money , just had a look it's £260K .
Think the 30 car garage may not be enough if the big one comes in,, could fill that the first week, First visit would be to Mark to see what i can
twist his arm on . I can't be bothered to go to the States and wait for the cars to arrive and he seems to enjoy his shopping trips .If in the
States i want to be relaxing on Malibu beach. Unlikely that's going to happen any time soon so will have to make do with Milford on Sea.
When are we going to see the Mustang or TVR at Goodwood, There's a 105 db track day at the end of the mouth

One of the Chelmsford rodders, Keith Smith had (probably still has) that green 500 cu in BB Chevy powered 'pro street' mark 10 Jag. That has gone through various guises, including single anmd twin Prochargers. Last time I spoke with him pre-Covid I think he was building-up a LS3 engine for it. Amazing vehicle really. With its tube chassis is acrually weighs-up several hundred pounds lighter than a stock Mark10. He used to go to all the major rod and drag meetings in Europe AND towing a caravan too........on the old A 33 road near Winchester about one in the morning doing around 120 and he forgot that there was a narrow hump back bridge

Looks as good if not better in the flesh, Like the way he's kept the interior almost in tact and kept it Jaguar like.
Some clever people in this hobby of ours, firstly to have the vision in the first place then to put it in place.
Bloody marvellous

I suppose these pics reinforce the idea that the bigger yanks look out of place on UK roads, but it doesn't put me off wanting one.

Off to work now to earn some yank car tokens, will have a catchup later but as said above the way this thread meanders but gently comes back on topic is rather nice, especially compared to other corners of PH were arguments seem to appear ever five minutes
