Stunning looking thing .........................................

Very nice.....especially with the M22 and the blue interior, and out of a known collection as well, so gotta be a good one..........and no reserve as well, so will sell on the day, and its right at the end of the last day as well, and after all the Gene Hertland '32 Ford collection has been across the block (which is billed as the star part of the auction week) so could get 'lost' in the auction.

Go for it........ biggrin

Back 'in the day' (early 70's) we had a local and well known rodder and yank enthusiast Chris Jones (who also built Devon Cream, a red Austin Devon hot rod) had what must have been a new or nearly new SD Trans Am in the same colours. Fascinated me seeing it being drived very agressively on the A12 Eastern Avenue in Romford making light work of the elongated roundabouts at high speed (later to become boring traffic lights). Still remember low low revving even at high speed it was compared to 'conventional' cars.

In my case it’s about 24 inches too many wink. At £15k starting price it makes the two blue Impalas on c&c look like really good value, even if one of them is ‘wrong hand drive’.

Can’t wait to fill the hole in my garage vacated by the Mini......

Many years ago 'old boys' and truckers used to refer to LHD vehicles as 'cack-handers' - tbh my 'take' on RHD American cars is that they are the real 'cack-handers'......

Well ive actually ordered my rims! Old skool ARE's TT 105' 8x15's with BRG's 235-60 front and 245-60 rears, NH assured me its the biggest combo without body/arch mods............. told them i didnt want roll the edges, and absolutely no rubbing going around roundabouts etc,

At the end of the day its hardly a race car laugh

Very much so.

In fact any RHD car with a manual 'box is cack-handed as the shift gate is just unnatural using the left hand across the gate compared with the more natural angle from a LHD car.

Being as the majority of the worlds population is right handed, and that a right handed person one does so many things with the dominant, possibly stronger and perhaps more intuative right hand I personally find right handed gear shifting perhaps more 'satisfying' (if that's the right word') than boring, every day left hand gear changing.....

I’ve been driving for thirty one years and haven’t driven a left hooker for at least ten, I have much to ‘unlearn’ wink

You might be a similar age to me then, passed my test at 17 in 1990.

I haven't driven a left hooker in the UK since I sold my GMC van in 2014. I do remember it took a while for me to stop driving slightly too close to the kerb and dropping into the drains when I first had it. Counting down the days til I pick the Firebird up... weekend after this one. Can't wait! biggrin

Can't believe he stores mucky wheels on a cream seat! Probably a good indicator of how much of a toss he gives about the car.

Used to love driving a LHD carb and 'hanging' close to the kerb' (not so keen nowadays running billet ally wheels though) - it didn't really matter too much about the drain ironworks "coz you woz in a Yank" and if it was a 'full size' you'd be 'floating' around unoticed over these kerbside 'imperfections' (which might include dead rodents, cats 'n' dogs, small children, disgarded fag packets, soft drinks cans, discarded prophalactics and other detritous not swept-up by local authorities). All the other tossers in RHD 'ordinary' cars would be driving along either in the middle of the carriageway 'bumper to bumper' up each others sphincter or with the off-side front wheel running close to the road centre-line and effectively 'blind' to what was ahead of them. 'Us' in the LHD vehicles would hog the kerb, look right up the inside of the traffic line.........and when the opportunity arose, 'carefully' pull-out and perhaps overtake 8 - 10 cars in one go......of course it ain't gonna work if driving something with a little six-banger or perhaps small capacity 2bbl V8 in a limo - and that's where the essentiality of a big-block powered car comes-in!

A little bit older, passed mine in 1989 aged 24. The last left hooker I drove was a ‘73 Camaro auto that belonged to a mate at work just before he took it off the road to modify it for Santa Pod based shinanegans. I should be able to get my head round it easily enough considering the locos I drive on the railway are all LHD!
