Hey RR what timed your machine up?
Is this auction on You tube?
I admire your nerve, I couldn’t do it
All the travelling, the worry and thought that like Estate Agents getting a nice chunk with every sale
Auction sites are absolutely no different,
But still fingers crossed and hopefully onward to the next purchase!!
I’m currently offering a couple more of my rifles,
And some of my accessories to try and raise a few more quid,
Not as easy to sell as it was but things are moving and I’m happy to cut to the bone for the time being
If it helps my fund, one last hurrah so to speak!

Not sure of the exact time but will be late afternoon, not holding my breath and i find myself thinking what i could be
doing today like a taking a car out for a blast being a lovely day instead of being stuck here,
Was not going to bother to come up but the guy at the auction said if i can would be more helpful if i was here
just incase they need to talk to me there and then.
Hopefully will look at it in a different light tomorrow either with the car sold or not ,
Got a busy week ahead of me ,collect the car if not sold Monday, clean it yet again Tuesday as heavy rain forecast tomorrow, My nippers got his eye
on a car at a auction on Wednesday, collect that Thursday if he buys it and Wheels Day on Friday so could have none without this weekend really.
Take the boys out to the beach over the weekend ,can't wait for that one.

But I always go into the shop with the wife,
It’s the only way I can limit the crap she buys!
How many times I’ve heard “ I’ve got to go to home bargains “ ffs nobody needs to go to home bargains!!!

Guess that’s true too !
Just watched RR’s lovely Vette go through
41k top bid, good grief I hope he’s keeping it!
Ok there’s a buyer premium on that which I guess is about 14% with VAT
I guess he’ll chime in at some point!

I'd guess he'll be driving it home tomorrow (or tonight) as I doubt he'd have put the reserve that low.41k top bid, good grief I hope he’s keeping it!

Don't know how good your memorys are but we were taking the piss out of a Mustang fastback some months ago
that was on C&C classifieds, huge flared arches ,wide Carlos Fandango wheels ,blue with white stripes ,ring any bells..
In fact there were two almost identical cars ,both blue with white stripes,65 cars i think , i thought they were one of the same car but i think it
was leigh noticed the reg's were different, The asking price was around £45K anyway while we were taking the piss ,newsatten saying it looked like a" Hot
Wheels " model which it did , someone in Denmark bought the car and as i was looking at todays C&C auction results i noticed the very
same car has just sold for 91,000 euro's ,that's some hefty profit assuming he chipped the British seller even allowing for his transport costs and taxes.
As a coincidence the sister car is back on C&C classifieds at the same time at £40K ,think they were asking £55K back then.
One of them can be found on todays C&C auction results and the other on page 7 or 8 under Ford Mustang not American cars section.,
Can't believe there's two identical cars made let alone be offered twice on C&C at the same time again,
There's another useless bit of info for you ,
M40 closed tonight so just got in , too knackered to talk C2's ,could be a long story but have a look at auction results for now.

The people with the disposable money are a generation behind, and have very different tastes to us old gits.

ths morning!
18k for a poxy Alfa Sud !!
20K for a turd Sierra
Unbelievable!
But different generation!!!
The latter is true, about generational taste. Just look at values of what we deem vintage cars, from the 40s and before. They are not expensive these days, apart from the superstars like Duesenbergs etc, as just too specialist to run and drive.
This is why the restomod market for 60s onwards metal is so buoyant. Many love the styling, but not necessarily the classic driving experience. Which is why I don't get sniffy about restomods, as anything that keeps these gorgeous old things on the road is OK by me.
I liked that tricked-up Mustang. In the same way I love the Ruffian one posted earlier in this thread. Evolution is no bad thing, to me. I get the love for a period car like mine as it is very, very special. But I also get one that has been chopped about according to modern tastes, as long as someone is enjoying it.
You tend to want the stuff you wanted as a kid/young adult. I grew up in the 90s, so tend to love things like the Ferrari F355, Aston Vantage V550, Escort Cosworth, Integrale, etc. I am unusual for my age in also loving 60s/70s metal - but my Dad did, so i grew up with that love.

This is definitely true - I still get misty eyed over '60s and '70s stuff, constantly, although there are some '50s cars that have really grown on me recently. I was born in '65 and there were still plenty of '50s cars on the roads as I was growing up. I have no problem with resto mods either, not everything that happens to them is reversible but at least these cars are being saved. This is why the restomod market for 60s onwards metal is so buoyant. (This morning we put a deposit down on a one owner 27k miles Abarth 595 'Anniversario', despite looking at modern Mustangs over the past couple of weeks!)
Well done, Nij.
From the driving perspective it's got to be one of the best decisions to go Abarth.
What engine is it? I drove a 180 hp manual back in the day, it was one of the best experiences car wise.
They keep their value quite good, so you could face a few years fun for little outlay.
That means you are off the yank stuff, at least for a time?

My only worry is could i cope with it on longer journeys ,
Out of three days going backwards and forwards to the NEC the M40 was closed on all three days through accidents,
Took me five hours for a two and a bit hour journey to get back on Wednesday after dropping the C2 off at the NEC , it was closed again on Friday
morning when two trucks crashed into each other at 6 am ,lucky it was the opposite way but still caused a problem for us
and on Sunday evening it was closed due to another accident and took me six hours getting in at midnight after leaving the NEC at six,
No wonder you guys don't want to travel to the shows that are any distance,
If i'd been in something like the Fiat especially having a stressful two days at the NEC i'm not sure if i would have coped so well in the traffic
as i did in the Merc wagon which had a calming effect on me where in a smaller manual car i'd be wanting to rip other drivers heads off.
I'm sure you are going to have lots of fun in the Abarth just keep away from the M40
PS--------- I expect you have already seen "Harry's Garage " video on the 308 GT4 ,
Watch it this morning ,really enjoyed it ,bought back some good memories

So RR you let the Vette go ?
Tough decision or just relieved that saga is over??

Now you've parted with the Vette Jon - wanna 'indulge' yourself in a potential 'depthless' money pit? - or perhaps just a wash, new battery and fluid changes may be all thats needed?
