That's a real shame as the way it sits and the ride height look spot on with those ARs.

Another pearl from the Mrs today : ''if you do actually buy an American car, you're not suddenly going to start talking like Carl Malden or Burt Reynolds are you...?'' hehe

Way off thread......but though I'd share it being as its crap quality materials.....
Battery isolators - the one on mine had been proving a little 'tetchy' recently - couldn't really seem to tighten enough to make proper contact - took it off this afternoon and now see the reason why.........the main part is cast from some form of 'pot' metal (and coated with some form of gold coloured finish to make if look like brass.
Brass wouldn't have started breaking down like this - I suspect that in addition it had been arcing and additionally damaging the thread in the casting......

The rear end of that just shouts 'Americana' to me, love it wink

On cheap Chinese made crap - the joys of classic Mini ownership are much better these days due to firms like Minispares getting fed up of said Chinese sourced crap and investing tons of their own money in tooling up to make decent quality parts again.

And back to the yanks - I think this may well be the same red '72 Dart Swinger linked earlier, filmed when it was still in the states.... if not it's a dead ringer....

It's not an original Q or R code Galaxie though.....

And if it really has had a H&M 427 put in it, it's a shame they didn't go the whole hog, and convert it to a 3 pedal car with a proper toploader instead of a slushbox. A slushbox bolted to the back of a H&M side-oiler is an awful prospect.

Yeah could well be, the time lines about right , good looking car, just the rear end is a bit naff, great fun with a warmed over small block,

Hopefully the whole covid debacle and the general world wide realisation that the vast majority of Chinese made sh-- is sh-- !
American Racing are/Have moved wheel production back to the US, bout bloody time, more and more suppliers are doing the same, Maybe Trump did actually get something right with America First ??

Lets hope more UK suppliers follow the Mini people and start making proper quality replacement parts,

When i spoke to my European owning sports car mates about me looking for a yank some years ago, they all took

the piss out of me and greeted me with Yee Ha and have you booked your Line Dancing lessons yet,

Funny part is within a few months most of them had joined me and we were going to the shows in convoy,

Never did the Line Dancing thing though ,nono

Really like that Galaxie too, despite Aero's thoughts on the subject wink I'd like something like that, £35k feels a bit rich though.

There was a really nice-looking '63 289 on eBay recently, 4 door though, but he seemed to be having trouble shifting that at £13,500. 2 more doors but nearly a third of the price! Wonder whether it sold.

It is for what it is, as its looks a tad rough, although if it is a genuine H&M 427, that is worth £15-20k on its own.

Compare its condition to this one for £32k......(but no 427 of course)

Looks me as if there's a short block in the engine bay - and probably (without looking at the engine code) a 289.

A couple of cheap Vettes sold in Barons auctions on Tuesday,

69 C3 auto, split roof £19,250 looks a decent car in the photo's

and a 2001 C5 for £11,825 seems a lot of car for no money,

Also 2 tatty Falcons,1 coupe and 1 convertible but what i thought would be

a bit of fun was a 1978 Lincoln Continental MK5 Diamond Jubilee in bright gold and a interior

which looks like your Nan's 3 piece suit inside, looks in lovely condition in the photo's

If you don't take yourself to seriously what a hoot to take everybody to the Rally of the Giants in,
