That's the spirit.... now imagine it with a 427 in it and wearing some AR torque thrusts..... hehe

Mrs.P5BNij is playing with my mojo again, we were down the garden earlier and I opened the garage doors when she said ''do you really want an American V8 or or do you really, really want something sexy and Italian...?''
Perhaps she's referring to Gina Lollobrigida, Claudia Cardinarle, (never been to sure about Sofia Loren though.......) - all figments of a long lost imagination perhaps........
And on the subject of Italian exotics - back in the mid 60's my long late father in law bought a new yellow Alfa 2600 Spider whilst my wife was still a young girl. Don't think it lasted too long and he pranged it. Have never given it too much thought untill a few days ago I saw the 6+ figure prices these are now fetching.......
Hot Italian woman, all three ,great period for films as well as cars,

Those 2600 Alfa's were underrated model until a few years ago, , especially the coupe version. never seen one in yellow

hard to image really was it a special order or a bit before your time , I had a 72 citrus yellow kamm tail spider

I bought it from a mega rich family in my town, the guy bought 2 brand new spiders, one for his

new wife and the other to his ex wife, he always drove Aston's until buying his first of 2 Espada's followed by 2 Iso Grifo's ,

His sons were driving their own Ferrari's Dino's by the age of 18 and Boxer's and Countach's a couple of years later.

Hard life some people have.

Gina, Claudia, now you're talking, always had a soft spot for Miss Loren, way back in the early '70s there was one of those typically period Tretchikof style paintings hanging in our hallway of a green skinned woman who had an uncanny resemblance to her, it was a full length portrait in a frame about six foot high, it made quite an impression on this 'growing lad'. We're in danger of veering even further off topic than usual here.... wink

All of the Alfa 2600 models are very scarce now, the Sprint coupes, spiders and Berlinas, it's long time since I've seen any of these over here.

I've had a look at the photos of that Jarama on collecting cars and it doesn't *look* too bad, am I missing something...? It's definitely the forgotten Lambo, close behind it is the Islero (Ferrucio's favourite car for a while) and I'd even say the Urraco is almost forgotten by many (not me though).

,
now there's a description you don't hear anymore, Then he would do it all over again in the evening.

Must be because of that i have got a soft spot for them ,many years later i ended up garaging a sublime green one

for a few weeks for one of my neighbours .Did the same with his Dino and as good as they sound with their V6 it wasn't a patch

on the a V12, yes

laugh
Tearing Calico , One of my Dads favourite saying's , bless him....................................... and no the lambo is a monster machine, but this one is a dog, and when attached to the words Lamborghini makes for a frighting scenario ! laugh
Not much on the Salterfix back catalogue for one of them! or AMD come to that,

Think they fall into a similar category as the 365/400 Ferrari although more elegant than the Jarama it's still one of the

most unloved Ferrari , i love the 365GT4 's not so much the 400, had a few of them ,a bit heavy and clumsy in town but if

you wind the V12 up and bang through the gears with the induction from the 6 webbers and open exhausts

you feel like you are in a Spitfire or Hurricane ,not that i've been in one.

One of the best kept secrets ,a poor mans Daytona

Sorry i thought you meant the Jarama is a dog, not that particular one, yes looking at those close up photo's

no wonder it's been for sale so long, It looks nice on the Car & Classic ad,

Makes you wonder what the Riv is like in the flesh.

Take it that your not impressed with the Jarama, it's the forgotten Lambo ,everybody's heard of the Countach, Miura even the Espada

but unless your into the Italian stuff no ones ever heard of it which makes it a bit of a bargain for a V12 Lambo,

Very quirky almost ugly if you 've never seen one before,
The Jarama was actually the personal favourite of Ferruccio himself out of all the Lambo's cool

There used to be one parked up in the driveway of a big house I used to pass cycling to school in the late 70's, was a bronze-brown colour, with a orangey-tan interior.
They never made many, was one of the rarest Lambo's.

Other than the Muira, my favourite is also little known outside of enthusiasts, the lovely Islero.

Must admit to being surprised and disappointed when i looked at the Collecting Cars photo's,lots of paintwork issue's if you look

into the photo's, Would be a expensive back to metal repaint, hate to think what you will find under that paint,

If the cars cheap enough be ok, i would drive it as it is ,looks fine from 10 yards and i could take it down the beach and not worry about it,

Unless you want to show it at Salon Prive it would be more enjoyable like it is not having the stress of owning a mint one.

As for staying on topic, think we blow that a hundred post's ago.

When was the last time a yank was mentioned on the Super Car forum, never is the answer, you would get the McLaren police

after us, thank god the yank community are far more understanding, but we better behave before we push our luck.

The last one i saw was at Historics auction maybe a couple of years ago , they said it was the actual car from the Roger Moore 's

film " The Man Who Haunted Himself" apart from that it was years ago at the Italian day at Brooklands,

Very understated for a Lambo, would surprise a lot of none car people when they see the badge,

A gentlemans Lamborghini .

Personally if your talking older Lamborghini's i love the 60's 350/400 with those gorgeous Borrani wire wheels lick

Just had a look, and it's not bad. Had some dollars spent on it, given its claimed to be 474ci, which means its likely got an Eagle stroker crank kit, and large bore Ross Racing piston kit in it.
5 speed box as well, so lots of the right restomod bits smile
Just needs an Art Morrison chassis biggrin

What a strange advert,i thought he was just being arty at first ,fancy doing all that hard work and getting it to that stage

and trying to sell it as it is. Looks like he's just given up, maybe that's a bit unfair as i don't know his circumstances .

The cars down in Cornwall,There seems to be a few cars for sale lately down there.

The 409 bubble top is down there ,also the guy who's advertising it has a cool Mustang fastback as well,

A 66 , a 420 bhp 347 stroker, duel 4 barrels, 5 speed Tremec,9" rear , Willwood on all 4 wheels,Halibrands.

Not sure if £55K is cheap for the spec,or about right these days, ticks alot of box's for me,

Wonder if he wants a Gallardo, i could push it all the way to Cornwall.

Just dragging rosco's stack injection post up again, as I finally found the photo I took in the swap meet at CHRR in Bakersfield back in 2017 biggrin

Checked with 'er indoors and her father bought the Alfa 2600 Spider new in approximately 1962 - she remembers that it was either a cream or yellow colour. Her father never really discussed the car following a third part fatality during the crash in which the car was written-off. My wife recalls it had followed on from a red '59 'finned' Sunbeam Alpine that has been purchased new.

That's sad,not surprised he never wanted to talk about the Alfa, I should think the colour was cream rather than yellow ,

The Classic Alfa Club have a track day at Goodwood once a year,in fact there up there on the 12th of June,

I've seen a couple of 2600 convertibles there,a concours cream one and a lovely rich dark blue ,

I like those early Alpines with the fins, not very exciting to drive but a great car just to cruise around in,

Had a later short fin car ,i thought it drove like a 2 seater Hillman Minx but still enjoyed it.

Ah yes, early 1390cc Hillman Minx - first of the OHV engines - what a useless 4 speed column change gearbox - even Hillman seemed to think so, suggesting using it as a 3 speed with emergency 1st gear.........

Kinsler BBC set-up. That would significantly improve forward visibility wouldn't it whistle

Yep.

A '61 Impala 409 bubble-top is one of my top 3 favourite Chebbies, along with a '56 Bel-Air HT and a '66 427 Stingray.

Although muscle cars are more my thing, I do think the 37 Cord is a fine looking motor.

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/auctions/1937-cord...

While the wife was watching her usual pap on the TV last night, I spent a while with a torch trying to find the numbers on my 350 small block, so that I can see where it originated. After looking up the numbers, I kind of wish I hadn't, turns out it looks to have started life in a '79 Chevy C30. laugh

I'm assuming it's been rebuilt at some point, as a '79 truck would probably have been to the moon and back, and my engine is sweet as a nut, no smoke at all from cold, runs smooth, oil and coolant are the colours they should be etc, so I'm hoping it's half decent. It has long tube headers, Edelbrock 1406 600cfm carb, Edelbrock intake, so who knows how much power it's putting out. I've not really given it much welly yet, but I did notice that the TH350 changes up into 3rd at 3000rpm even under full throttle! Going to have a go with the B&M ratchet shifter at the weekend now I've fathomed out how it works... redface
