I was considering having my '32 painted in Iris Mist (the name Pontiac called Evening Orchid) but I didn't really want to use a post-63 colour, so had looked at using '59 Caddy Persian Sand instead, but, a not to be turned down less than half price deal on a batch of hides for the interior meant that a different route had to be taken regarding the exterior colour. That's the same Corvair I had my eye on fairly recently (it's also on c&c), but the seller described the paint as being 'flat' when advertised previously, which would need sorting out properly. I think it's a great looking car and the whole yankie take on the European rear mounted air cooled flat six is nice, but I'm still veering towards the V8 stuff. And the Italian stuff. Oops!

It's a very good looking car, but for me (and it is only personal preference), the whole attraction to American cars revolves around it having a V8.LeighW said:

(Although I'd make an exception for a 1930's Packard V12, Lincoln V12, Caddy V12, Caddy V16 or a straight 8 Duesenberg )

I wondered how long we could talk about Bristol's before someone lowers the tone ,
When the team at Duxford were restoring the Bristol Blenheim to airworthy (twice) they were selling these t-shirts..... The Fighter Collection in the hanger next door were just starting their Bristol Beaufighter restoration, so they did some t-shirts with "Happiness is an even bigger pair of Bristols" on
Quite a few affordable Yanks around now, the primrose Merc is now under 11K ............. 9000 would probably buy it???
what a lot of motor, 390 4V , good fun car, loads cheaper that the wheezy Corvair,
Good time to buy now, lockdown's almost gone, deffo deals to be done, some of them with hugely over inflated prices will be for sale forever!
But looking around and watching the auctions one can still acquire a car without selling ones home
RR any joy with the Lamborghini? and any bites on the MK 2 ??
Heard any more from TA man? Im getting twitchy again, may try a cheeky Add for the Dodge, maybe its time to try a secure my Bucket list motor

Wasn't that advertised a couple of months ago, It was taken off as sold, wonder if it's the same advertiser or the new owner's not impressed with it,
My 59 Caddy was this colour it was as close as i could get to Persian Sand,
Bought it from a beautiful blonde lady, she definitely looked better driving it than me
especially in this colour, Never was a fan of Corvairs but i love this one, think it's the outrageous colour
but quite expensive for one of these,
Yeah, that will be interesting , great looking car, but alas out of my league i fear.................................................
Its Catch -22 i cant take a chance buying one, then struggle to return a decent sum on the RT, so realistically i need to see what the Challenger will make to allow me to proceed,
Plus my Garage wows, neither could be trusted sitting on my drive, i would'nt be able to sleep ! lol..................
its all a bit dodgy really ...................................................................................
Ironically this has only come back to mind as a deal i was doing has fallen through, " the owner changed his mind " ces't la vie .............

If you could up your budget say to a De Tomaso, Iso Grifo or Lele/ Rovolta you could resolve your Italian/yank dilemma,I can only imagine what a V8 Corvair would handle like, never driven one but from what i hear
there pretty scary stuff with the 6 pot
This Maser QPV sounds interesting, manual or auto ?? If close would be rude not to go and have a nosy

Alas all lotto money now, mind you i would put the Cord almost in the same category that sold on Car & Classic on lineI've got mates who are into the older pre-50 stuff, and have straight 6 flathead and straight 6 ohv stuff, and even one with a straight eight Pontiac......but, nope, can't get into that at all.....

they would look at it as a emergency as it doesn't go, if quickish fix they will fit it in but if serious it may have to get in
the queue and wait till July which will give me time to organise a " Go Fund Me" appeal,
MK2 gone quiet since the few enquiries i had early on , seem to be a lot for sale right now.
Found someone who will have a go at dropping the box without taking the engine out,
apparently getting the overdrive out isn't a problem, it's trying to line everything up when fitting it back in if
you don't remove the engine and box ,He will do it at my place so dare say i will get involved somewhere alone the line.
Had to ignore the T/A for now, got toooo much going on ,will approach it when i sort myself out and live in hope
the owner doesn't decide to advertise it.
Ye things are selling, all the cars i've been following have sold, even the yellow C2 coupe that was bought at Silverstones
for £46Ka few weeks ago ,It was listed on Car & Classic for £65K and sold within 2 days, nice little earner for a quick polish,
I seem to be firmly stuck in reverse at the moment and can't find neutral to find any forward gears .
If you put the Challenger out there at a unreasonable high price and see if anyone bites,
only problem i can see is you could be without a car for the season if you can't find what your looking for.
but with the toy cupboard empty and the bank bursting you will be hungry and look with two eyes wide open instead of one,
On one hand seems a shame to sell it after all the hard work you have put into it but sometimes it's the right
time while it's looking at it's best and get top dollar for it.. nice dilemma to have really.,
Bought the June Edition of Classic & Sports Car today, it's a Muscle Car Special Edition ,
as if the tweeds need anymore encouragement, any excuse to up those prices again.
PS-------- You are right that Merc needs buying, bag full of cash the seller would find it hard to turn you away.
Top of the range and sooooooo rare, Should drive so much better than a Galaxie and half the money,
But just doesn't have that muscle car image,I could live with that ,

sell, don't know what price it went up to. Do your maths and that's almost double in just over a year,
Could blame it on it was one of the first" On Line auctions " in lock down and nobody knew which way this virus was
going i don't know, With "On Line Auctions "now becoming the norm and we have learnt to live with the virus things are
on the move again.
