Yes things are selling, all the cars i've been following have sold, even the yellow C2 coupe that was bought at Silverstones

for £46Ka few weeks ago ,It was listed on Car & Classic for £65K and sold within 2 days, nice little earner for a quick polish,
Crikey.....eek
Think i'd have to live in a bubble so i could never see info like that if i'd just paid 65K for a car! imagine finding out i'd be suicidal laugh

Bummer with the Lambo, "tits and tyres" again laugh
If that Mercury was closer id deffo check it out, theres a strange sort of exhilaration/fear with a powerful and huge but ever so slightly out of control motor , proper Dukes Car............

Now that could sit on the drive, pull the king lead and remove the steering wheel , then it aint going anywhere ,
I'l have a think about the Dodge, dont suppose anything will come of it, im bored and a bit grumpy, laugh

That's the same Corvair I had my eye on fairly recently (it's also on c&c), but the seller described the paint as being 'flat' when advertised previously, which would need sorting out properly. I think it's a great looking car and the whole yankie take on the European rear mounted air cooled flat six is nice, but I'm still veering towards the V8 stuff. And the Italian stuff. Oops!
If you could up your budget say to a De Tomaso, Iso Grifo or Lele/ Rovolta you could resolve your Italian/yank dilemma, idea

I can only imagine what a V8 Corvair would handle like, never driven one but from what i hear

there pretty scary stuff with the 6 pot yikes

This Maser QPV sounds interesting, manual or auto ?? If close would be rude not to go and have a nosy
Sadly I've resigned myself to the fact that my budget will never reach the dizzy heights of De Tomaso etc ownership, I'd really like to push things that far but it's just not do-able for me unless a windfall appears from nowhere (her indoors is due for a fairly hefty one when her old Mum makes her way up to the pearly gates but could be next week or twenty years from now). Doesn't stop me dreaming though, see previous posts of mine for the gory details!

The QPV isn't far away, I'm fishing for more gen and will have a shuftie asap. Also chasing up an '87 Biturbo, a rather tidy RHD FIAT 130 Coupe, a RHD QPIV and (possibly) a RHD '94 Ghibli.

To much time on your hands, it's fatal, Sorry wrong Merc , just had a look on Car & Classic, thought it was the one advertised

a few weeks ago but that one had a white vinyl roof and the original hub caps and whites and think the interior was a different colour

and in better shape, There's a link to the ad somewhere back in this thread .

What's the chance of two both in primrose coming up. Will have a look later to see if it's still listed,

As for the buyer of the yellow C2 as long as he's happy with his purchase and he doesn't look like we do in the auction results

he'll be ok enjoying his Vette.

Blimey looks like you are going to busy, good job you got a few days off,

You'll be glad to get back to work for a rest,

Just joking about the De Tomaso and Grifo , thought you would have the best of both worlds in one package

The Grifo is out of bounds now for most of us and only for the very wealthy collectors and the Pantera GT5 S just for the wealthy

although a plain Jane slab sided Pantera can be bought for £60K/£70K which some prefer to the GT5S,

In 1989 i went to Emilio Concessionaire's with my £7K cash deposit for my brand new GT5S that was a cancelled order

The car was due in September and it was July and the list price was £48K,, The owner was at Le Mans with the club and with only the

technicians in the workshop i had to go back another day,

In between me going back i managed to park my 911 Turbo on it's roof after doing a few somersaults in the New Forest,

Next time i take the scenic route i'll use a Range Rover.

The 911 was going to finance the payment for the Pantera and with the insurance company whittling me down and giving me

a hard time delaying payment that was that, never got my new De Tomaso,

With value's now at £200K + not much chance of getting one now either.

Fella's the conclusion I've come to is that that beautiful Italinate and other European bodywork is wonderful to look at - the mechanics and structure are also superb - but the implications of 'keeping' them, the risk of being damaged out on the street and the overall cost of owning them makes the Yank stuff so sensible. We almost have the style, certainly have the performance (if in a straight line) with our USA stuff and its certainly an alternative to the limited UK selection of classic vehicles (limited in terms of cars with relatively small and perhaps comparitively 'puny' motive power plants).........however the 'other' attraction of Claudia, Gina, Sophia and a fair few other Italian beauties still remains - although perhaps best remaining historical what with all the modern silicon enhanced, dead-pan expression, collagen filled lips and Marx Bros' eyebrow modern 'equivalents' (and thats just the 'geezers'!)
Claudia Cardinale was my first love actress wise, stunning beautiful woman, reminds me i haven't watched

one of her films for years, Must see if there's any on You Tube if i can get off this forum.

One of the things I like about US cars is the 'everyman' styling - nothing too fancy as they had to be knocked out by the millions but cars like the 63 corvette coupe, 36 Ford 3 window and the boat-tail Riviera are some beautiful examples of styling to me. There are other stunning ones like the caddies of the 30s but the ones I like are attainable to me on my budget, and with a bit of tinkering (and cash frown ) can lay 400 feet of rubber. smile Maybe not so great handling but with modern suspension upgrades they can be a lot better. It depends on your depth of pocket but they are attainable, more so than a lot of Italian exotica, for example. I appreciate most classic cars, new cars don't really move me so much.

Sorry guys got a retraction to make, that's what you get for jumping to conclusions, nono
Just seen the yellow C2 coupe on E-Bay, The seller had it listed on Car & Classic and deleted after two days

so assumed they had sold it otherwise why would you take it off, scratchchin

Maybe it was sold and fell through who knows but it's definitely back up for sale now,

Looking at the photo's again really don't get how it never sold for £37K first time round.

Ian Richardson raced a Corvair quite successfully. I believe he used the Chevy V8 engine from his McLaren (M6?) from his time
racing in the Interserie races.

No, No and No to all three grumpy Lambo's being collected on Tuesday, they are fully booked till July but said

Had to ignore the T/A for now, got toooo much going on ,will approach it when i sort myself out and live in hope

the owner doesn't decide to advertise it.

I seem to be firmly stuck in reverse at the moment and can't find neutral to find any forward gears .smash

If you put the Challenger out there at a unreasonable high price and see if anyone bites,

only problem i can see is you could be without a car for the season if you can't find what your looking for.

Yeah that all makes sense!
So RR what would you consider an Unreasonable high price to put the feelers out ? my trouble is even though ive had these cars for most of my life ive only ever sold to buy something else, never for profit, like the RT, ive hundreds of man hours in it, but as mad as it seems i do it cos i enjoy doing it!

And now my knee's sort of fixed maybe , just maybe ive got one more in me before i hang up my guns laugh

Looks a bit of a weapon, Would loved to have seen and heard it in action,

There was a race Corvair in one of Bonhams Goodwood auctions a couple of years ago but no where as modified as this one,

sold for around £18K. Loving that and it will even fit in your garage P5BNij.thumbup

Well if you follow the trend ,think of a figure and double it, The boys from Dream Cars always said to me that sell

at a price that it would cost to replace rather than what it owes plus your usual dealer profit,

So with genuine RT's being so rare and the cost of you replacing it either here or importing one being on the high side

that's the figure you got to aim for, also the guy who would be selling you his T/A if he's owned it for years isn't going to

sell you it for what he paid for it 10 years ago, cars have become like houses ,once your out of the game you will never catch up

unless a windfall. How long is a peice of string really, I would be cheeky as you are only testing the water and if it works you got

less money to find for that T/A or none at all if your lucky,

It was so long ago when i went to see your Challenger before you bought it and can't remember if it was Matching numbers or not

but judging by the people who owned it it probably was, None of us years ago couldn't give a rats ass if it was or wasn't matching numbers but

with the new bread of buyers at todays prices they love all that ,and don't forget your Challenger will probably be sharing a motor house

along side Ferrari's, Aston's and the like as there the only ones can afford them. now.

Matching numbers RT, £ 45K if you want to sell it or £55/£65K if not bothered and that's only the price of a good to average Mustang fastback

your car is so much rarer, so why not £75K or consider deal with Bull Nose T/A, Maybe that's being a bit ambitious but next year not so.

Ads are free in Car & Classic and you can leave them in there as long as you like.

Best to work out the cost of importing similar car to yours from the States with all the agg it can cause and go from there.

Sorry for the long winded answer to your question but aren't they always.

Cars are still selling, so aim high, it's a special car. Wish I could afford it, although at least with my Firebird being so non original, I'm not afraid to muck about with it.

This 69 Firebird (in Malta!) popped up on my ebay a day or two ago, $45000, sold already.

Be worth keeping an eye on the first day of the Mecum Indy auction later this evening as there is this '70 Chally 340+6 going across the block today, just to gauge where US current auctions prices are at the moment....
