Good luck with the viewing, will the TA take a step closer if the ruby goes??
i'l always hanker after one laugh and the sound they make, especially a manual !

no matter how many times i watch the Trans Am racing on youtube, the sound of those motors ripping through the gears and down shifting into bends gives me goosebumps ! just nothing comes close,
No injection, no blowers, just old skool engineering fabulous .................................

Drag racing is the same, when your next to the action you can feel the noise ! Yep Electric may well be the future and thats were it should remain..........................................

Unfortunately i cant afford a TA so im thinking of rolling down and looking at the 302 powered Falcon thats on Ebay, ticks most of my boxes?
but its sort of a contradiction , as i wouldn't want to sell it when its done lol, so really i need to buy something someone else wants like a Mustang !

May just say sod it and buy my wife a Q5 with a virtual dash, so been banging on about one since last Christmas and our oldest daughter took her shopping in her new one, my misses bless her was amazed the the sat nav showed Canterbury Cathedral in Christmas mode and covered in fairy lights ! laugh

newsatten don't equate new Q5 with reliable...

Buddy bought one not too long ago as his Mrs family car. Apart from the Haldex diff going bang it was crap on diesel and woolly to drive. Unless you go mad on the spec then you're well into the next class above.

Thanks, got everything crossed, weather not looking good ,don't mind taking it out and getting it dirty if he buys it but if he has twenty more to look at will be pissed as although small it's not a easy car to clean, quite intricate with the wire wheels, It's now very muddy round the lanes with the rain and tractors, will be that way till the spring now. Spent most of Friday cleaning our dailies so fed up cleaning cars.

Went to see my mate today who owned the blue T/A the same time i had mine forgot he's just sold his 64 Falcon and 62 Capri and and not long ago his Falcon Wagon and got £55k burning a hole in his pocket and i mentioned the white T/A in conversation as i haven't seen him for 6 months due to him shielding.
Being a member of the Pontiac owners club and probably owning 20 plus Pontiac's ,he was on me like a rash,
He was trying to bully me to take him to see it and wants to buy it now and sell it to me later but i won't be able to do anything about it if he changes his mind and wants to keep it,He will be on the phone every day now, he bit like a trout and i realised i should have kept my big mouth shut.
I told him he will have to wait as will not be able to find another but if the guy selling tells me he is going to advertise it or has interest elsewhere and i'm not in a position to buy i would rather him have it than someone i don't know plus there's still a chance of buying it at a later date maybe.
If it was anything else that was easy to replace i would hand it over and find another one. as he's a good guy and done me a few favours.

A Falcon would be good alternative to a Mustang,Didn't see that on E Bay will have a look later, I had 2 Falcons ,funny enough bought through the guy i saw today, A 65 302 Futura with a cam , auto with side exit exhaust ,had the lowest axle i've ever had ,revving it's head off at 50 mph, let my son drive it home and he knocked the ends out of it before we got back ,Was ok but not very exciting car.
The second was completely the opposite being a 64 Sprint having a period Paxton Supercharger on a race 289 with 5 speed straight cut gears, been used for Hill climbs and club sprints, 5th was so noisy i drove it in 4th on the Motorways, ln fact it was better as i could keep the engine spinning at 80mph because it bogged down in 5th. It was red and i got a graphics man to put a gold vinyl wrap in between the the 2 stainless strips on the side to give it that Alan Mann racing look ,cheaper and less messy than painting them on and removable if not liked .
Sold it at the Silverstone Classic Auction last summer, thought it the wright place but only had one telephone bid, between the auctioneer bidding it up on fresh air and me taking slightly less we got it sold.Would have kept it but it wasn't as fast i hoped having the Supercharger and high spec engine and along with 6 to 9 mpg she had to go.
One thing i noticed when i came up behind cars say on a motorway in the Shelby Mustang clone it seemed instantly recognisable and drivers would wind down their windows to listen to it go by and phone camera's would appear but with the Falcon hardly anyone noticed it until you went blasting by,I think they thought it was a big Cortina ,only those who are in the know would recognise it ,

Can't your daughter share her Q5 with your wife ,would be a easy solution for you but maybe not for them,
Often wonder why i drive a 2k Lexus for my daily when having all the money in classics that i hardly use .
I don't get ocd over it and if something major goes wrong i can throw it away and get another one ,
After saying that i've done 32,000 miles in just over a year and apart from the throttle jamming open twice it's been the most reliable car i've ever owned if not the most boring unlike the GTA Alfa i had previously,

Sorry for the novel, nothing on the telly got a bit bored.

Thanks for the headsup!

Modern cars are far to clever for there own good! thats another reason i prefer old skool stuff! laugh
We do so little mileage these days we just keep our very mediocre daily's going, worth zero , cost pennies to run!
Add that to the fact that really none of us are doing much for foreseeable its probably window shopping !

The car share just wouldn't work lol, nice idea though!
Yeah the weathers not great for viewing motors, and deffo not good for road trips! raining big time here, thanks for the info regarding the Falcon, it caught my eye as it looks a level car, small block/4 speed etc, scruffy but supposedly sound?
15k so in the park price wise, but there's no panic to find a project at this time, no this time patience is the watchword ,
Plus ive another consultation on the 11 of November with the surgeon about my knee op,

Sounds like youve opened Pandora's box by telling your mate about the TA laugh
Did he know about the other car in Petersfield ?? 50k would do it i'd think?
But as your unsure whether to commit to buying the Poncho it would seem sensible to let your mate have first dibs lol..............

An Alloy dash is after market and frankly, dire. Factory dash was wood. The heat thrown back from an alloy dash, on a hot day, is ruddy diabolical. On a long trip across France in August 07, in my 95 500, the heat thrown back from its after market alloy dash, actually burnt my face and irritated my eyes. These cars get Very hot enough inside, as it is.
Seat runners are flat and the 4 mounting studs, go straight through the floor. Washers can be used, to lift the seat up, but the OE Griff seats are dreadful things, zero lower back support. The best mod is fitting Tuscan seats. These are taller and Way more supportive. I have one in my Griff, paid £10 quid for a pair of them, from a breakers, had to unbolt them myself and straightened the passengers one out, then fitted it to the drivers side.

The TVR Vixen was a 1600, whilst the 67 - 71 Tuscan, had the early wheezy Ford Zodiac derived 128hp V-6, or a Ford V-8. Factory built V-8 Tuscans are rare, but a few V-6 cars have had a V-8 fitted.

This V-6 Tuscan is the ex Dr.Rod Longton one. He bought it new and won the 71 Mod Sports championship with it.

Wow, nice TVR Vixon/Tuscan just been listed on Car and Classic, Not sure which one it is but sure with your knowledge of TVR's you can throw some light on it ,has a 289 , looks a stunning car on Dutch plates.

Just read the ad says a Vixon that's been Tuscanised, Fantastic spec and build, Scary fun comes to mind.

Back to TVR's again.

Just fell in love again,Scary TVR Vixen/Tuscan listed today on Car and Classic, sorry still don't know how to link or even if i can on this thing.
Didn't think i would ever say that about a TVR, What with you, neutral 3 and SRT Hellcat , must be brain washing me.

Ye ,Wasn't expecting him to bite like that,he always buys auto's and has a problem with his foot and is on walking sticks, also has arthritis
and can't work on his cars any more and along with no shows this year is the reason he sold all but one of his cars,
He will own the T/A if i can't ,have spoken to the owner and asked if he will call me if he decides to advertise it or if he has interest from elsewhere,

With the nights closing in and the weather's not going to get any better there should be less buyers willing to travel so just a waiting game for something to fall on your lap.
A 74/79 T/A would tick some of the box's for you, and should be saleable with a strong following but with the Falcon being a 4 speed
would be a bit of fun as well., In fact cheaper than a MK 1 Cortina.

The guys turned up this morning, sun came out for a hour or so ,just enough time to drag it out of the garage.
Nice straight forward blokes ,one having 5 seven's who looked over it for the buyer, going to look at another one which is sort of on the way home and going to get back to me, This is the 6th one they've look at,
Problem is if he buys one they will have nothing to do with their Sundays,

Not holding my breath but never say never.

The Dutch car looks very scary, but if being a Cack hander dont faze you, as you say looks fun!
Should be an straight forward job to lift the seat frames, and could also have a slight forward tilt, as the car has race car type seats they may be position fixed, so a custom fit just for you Ta -Dah............................................................

The Shelby's epic, great looking car, not hard to see why they are so popular, the 9000 RPM i guess would be possible, my mate mick had a 90's Winston Cup Oval Race car a few years back, 5.0 ltr that would rev to 10,000! the noise was unbelievable! he could never open it up at Brans or Lydden because of the sound restrictions!

It would detonate the tyres in 3rd at over a 100! incredible machine!
We took it to Speed Fest a few years back, think its in Norway now?

Makes a change to see a R whether real or clone in a different colour from the usual white/blue .

I do like a raw car and it doesn't get much better than that, The guy i bought my Shelby clone from was half way into turning it into a R and i undid what he had done reverting it back to road spec during the repaint, seeing the video i wished i'd carried on with the R theme now,

It's just i always seem to struggle to sell my track orientated cars ,sell them eventually just seems to take forever ,after spending a fortune

making it your own only to find that you've narrowed the market down to a smaller minority by following your heart instead of your head.

Should really only do this if a keeper or let someone have the expense of doing it like the Falcon and Firebird and add your stamp

on after.

Your mates racer sounds a monster ,a small block at 10k rpm must sound insane ,imagine that in a road car ,

You associate a screamer like that with the European's rather than the yanks.

Pretty boring at the moment not much going on, no beach ,no car shows or racing ,not a lot different to the summer really

apart from it being hot then , Lets hope we shake this virus off by the summer and get back to some normality.

Looks like it's going to drive it self into the ground,I bet that's handful on the corner's.

Love those colours, sublime, plum crazy ,orange really suit the Mopar's , apart from orange on a Mach 1

they wouldn't look so good on a Mustang that's for sure.

Apparently its a full handling pack laugh was very popular back in the day!..............................
Ironically another reason yanks were considered a bit naff! ........... Add custom paint and Murals nuff said!.

The trouble with road/track type cars is they dont really work at either , roll cages look cool, as do full harness belts etc, tight bum holding seats, all look good till one actually wants to use the car, then all the above are a huge pain in the ar-- , add then the fact you look like a dick when your strapped in and stuck in a jam with other drivers going to Marks and Spencer Local,
This aint Spa laugh
Track cars should be on the track, Mickey's Winston Cup car was a full oval racer, good at going left! he pulled the 3rd Member which was set to rear steer the car, a Chassis Alignment firm tried to reset the wheel angle but it was'nt possible, so a proper road coarse car axle
was needed to get the car to handle left and right turns, it was better but full Road coarse Nascars are a very different beast from the roundy roundy one !

Its a lot of messing around for a few times a year !

How did the Ruby sale go, any luck???
Im waiting to find out what my working week will be from next week? i suspect i'l be kept on reduced hours, if so i'l deffo have to find a project to occupy my spare time,

I think you would need full harness in that Challenger to stop you sliding off the seat,

Know what you mean about harness belts ,you can feel like a bit of a nob sitting at the lights all strapped in especially in a open car,

`My son is 5ft 10" and slim and i'm neither so when i get in after he's been driving takes me forever to adjust the belts then find you need

something out of the clove box and can't reach and got undo them and start again ,

One of my track cars i left the normal belts in as well as the harness's ,so much easier when on the road.

Only drove the Firebird once on the road,it was to harsh even for me, to hot and drummy had to trailer it everywhere which was a pain as

you then got to fall over a 4x4 and a trailer for months while not using it,a bit like what you said about the Winston cup car that only

gets out a few times a year.

The Falcon was better compromise having had headlining, some sound deadening and carpets but the suspension was rock hard and well

cambered with no movement at all ,just as well as there was no gap at all between the arches and the tyre,

I'm sure a standard suspension car would be quicker on bumpy B road,

Think your wright about a track car not being any good on the road, great pose but to much a compromise and like wise a road car on the track.

After blowing the rear main seal on a BDR Caterham i spent the afternoon in our standard 1,400 cc Honda Civic rather than waste the day, It was interesting to

say the least just had to keep it on the boil but at least it gave plenty of warning before it let go instead of just snapping out.

The guy came back to me on the seven with a low ball offer which i declined ,given him a price that i will except so see if he comes back

with a decision,at least he's been back in contact so just have to see if he wants it that bad, The roads around here have got very muddy so

doubt if i will be driving it till the Spring so would like it gone but not going to give it away.

Think you get a lot of attention in your Challenger ,try a Austin Seven only difference is where you get all the hot woman i get old men

shuffling up to me reminiscing about how they or their father owned one ,

Would be handy to have the garage at work as long as they let you get on and not keep dragging you off your own work but as long

as they pay you suppose it could work in your favour,

I ran out of room a couple of years ago and had a job to find a single or double garage with enough width and length along with a entrance

also wide enough to get a larger than average car through in a friendly secure area which was also local to me .

Found one eventually after a very very long search but had to pay close to double the average rent for it but at least i could sleep at night .

Where most people found my triple white Fox body Mustang a little naff the local Polish community loved it especially the woman

preferring it to the T/A which was strange, maybe they been watching to much Vanilla Ice.

Talking about Fox's Ken Block has a video out where he's built a replica Vanilla Ice Mustang for his 14th year old daughter

and teaching her how to drift. Following in fathers foot steps lucky girl.

PS- Forgot to mention that the white Griffith that sold in HH Auction for £18k has just been listed on Car and Classic for £24k, nice wage if he can get that ,says private but unlikely, Seemed a cheap car but not knowing much about TVR's wasn't sure.
