I had a guy argue with me at the Ace that the Hellcat was a Mustang. Definitely man. I seen it on fast and furious and a young couple worst for wear drink or something who both swore blind it was a Corvette smile

Generally the great British public are thunder heads when it comes to American cars, but to mistake a Hellcat for either a Mustang

or Vette, If driving any 50's/60's land yacht especially if it's got fins and it's pink it must be a Caddy,

Did some filming with a 60 Galaxie convertible and the director and camera men where always shouting bring the Cadillac

around now, i kept on correcting them but for 6 weeks they were still referring to it as the Cadillac, i gave up in the end and let

them call it what they like, after all they were paying me whether Caddy or Ford.rolleyes

Better vision in the 5 windows but i prefer the 3 window, gives you a little more privacy when it gets a bit to

much with people grinning and waving at you in the traffic, you can hide in the blind spots, wavey

In summary, it's a 2003 4.7 non-Hemi 2WD, 127k, cloth not leather, and the seller was firm at £6k which I thought wasn't bad, but interestingly enough, since I posted that above, I spoke to my brother who has a mate who buys and sells these regularly, and according to him it's not the bargain I thought it was! Brother's mate reckons that as it's a low rent version biggrin it's worth no more than £5k max. Not a massive difference, but I'm not at all sure I'd keep it for a long time after having a play so I'd want to know I'd get my money back (and maybe a few quid on top if I sort the oil leaks etc), but if it's worth less than I thought and perhaps a version which is not so easy to sell on, I think I'll pass. The guy selling it definitely wasn't letting it go for less than £6k.

I'm determined that I will have a dabble with a Yank sometime tho! MrsC is very very tolerant of my vehicle purchasing habit but has politely suggested that anything else I buy (without selling something first) really ought to be profit-making and not for loss!
Your money 4/5 years ago would buy you more than now, probably you would pay £4K to £5K then ,maybe even £3.500 for a very

average truck, You can't buy nothing worth having for £6K now, it's in everybody's price range ,more buyers around with that type of

money in their pocket than £10K to £12K, They haven't changed much in appearance either so don't look dated like most 18 year old

vehicles, Everything in the American car world has gone up or money's gone down,a bit of both i should imagine.

Wouldn't worry to much about the low spec ,it's in that price range that it's less important ,almost beggars can't be choosers price bracket,

No offence meant it's just starter money now.

If spending £12K/£20K you need to tick more box's ,A Hemi would be better but it's not a racing car so as long as it's a V8 can't see a problem

If the seller isn't interested in a offer it's take it or leave time. You will eventually find a Hemi with higher spec especially if you dig a little

deeper , I'd concentrate on the condition at that price range rather than the spec,if paying more you can afford to more picky

I think £5K would be nearer the price but if you want it another £1K is neither here or there but it would have to be tidy even for a truck , Being

sold buy a friend of a friend and it's not yet advertised will give you a chance to have a good look around it without the guys phone ringing with

other interest.,

Take the cash with you and try your luck with a realistic bid if you like it,at least he knows your serious and there to buy it not to kick the tyres

Good luck. idea
.

I agree with all of that. Don't get me wrong, I have more money to spend if I see something I really like/want, but with this one I was probably looking at a little play around with it then flip it, but as such it looks like not only is there not any headroom in the price but it might be more difficult to move on. The guy said if he puts it up it'll be £8k and the absolute minimum he'll take will be £6k, so I don't think he'll drop any more. He's in no hurry to sell, if it goes he'll look for something else but he only does 1-2k per year in it, it's just a toy for him.

I'd still go for something more expensive if I like it but I'm really looking at things I can buy, enjoy for a little while, and not lose much on when I move them on to try something else, and this one looks a bit touch and go!

There are things I like, like for example that pale blue Impala which has been for sale for ages at around £10-11k but it's a 4 door and just because I know it's been for sale forever, I can see me having the same problem moving it on myself. Other things on my radar would be a Galaxie 500 or certain years of El Camino. Between me & MrsC we have 6 cars already, with no real plans to sell any of those, and no more space on the drive, so whatever it ends up being, it's got to be something easy to sell on!!

I like both.

But, I don't like faked patina, so that's why will mine will be shiny as so much of the body is new metal (to begin with, and will let it get a patina with age and use)

Yeah, I went on a safari to a get-together with him and some other guys, great day out. He said it was a slightly overbored 401 but had a 425 originally. Very cool car.

She sounds a keeper, spend as much as you can afford,as a rule you should get better value the more you spend,

but if this Ram to local to you i should think it would be well worth a nosy ,sellers hate seeing you talk away with the cash even if it

less than they say they will take,

I know someone, that 40 odd years later, still says Dukes of Hazard is one of his favourite TV shows from his youth, but he isn't much of a car fan, and knows the square root of FA about yank cars and still to this day, doesn't know what make/model of car the General Lee is (or really cares about that anal level of detail)

He's sounds like the one's who yell ye ha to me ,they obviously like the program but totally disinterested in the car,

I've seen everything from Robin Reliant to Granada's painted in General Lee colours and i'm sure they would think

they were the real thing.if your not interested your not interested.

This caught my eye,
I bet it did, always loved these ,slightly off the wall at the time, they suppose to be a handful but it's not about that

Just owning it ,being able to sit in it, stare at it in your garage , Starting would be a event in it self.

A black one sold for £201,250 at Bonhams Bond Street sale in May, there was a mean looking Pantera also

in black that sold for half that at £90K + commission, To me the Pantera is the perfect compromise between having a American

and Italian car without the drawbacks .

Yes agree, fabulous looking car the Pantera, the first lean looking car , and a later GTS vari with all the arches and wings is a riot,
Race type suspension, good brakes, bomb proof motor and trans, yeah the perfect combination ,

I had 'patina' cars when they were described back in the day as pieces of rusting, over compounded and polished junk.
