going to fit a catch tank tomorrow, my rad blows a little water out the over flow when it get really warm, 52 years ago it was acceptable to dump on the floor!
knee heels,Can't believe they got you on that roof, thought they were going to go easy on you the first week,
Straight in the deep end then.
A V4 with a auto, oh dear, when you are younger as long as it looks the part we didn't care,
Now it's got look good with the right bits. Still show offs just fussier in our older and wiser age

Looks a good night ,summers here at last, love the colour of the Rod ,That's the way i would go
lf i get around to painting the 3 window,
It was. Cider in hand, looking at cars, chatting to old friends, what's not to like? lf i get around to painting the 3 window,
The rod shows on DVLA as first registered 1938, not 1932, and 3500cc. Is it a glassfibre job? Rover motor? I didn't like to knock on the roof to check... It was nice, whatever.
got to be steels, hub caps, beauty rings and wide whites ,
Love the hard look of the Rolling Bones Rods but like a little bling as well.
I've done the primer look and thought maybe gloss primer for a change to black'
The Roaster 's very dark blue with pale blue painted chassis, done almost 30 years ago, nice patina now but not quite rat.
Reg as a 32 because that's what it is,unlike the 3 window which is reg as 1952 but never had any problems so far.,

Problem witrh Valiants (and perhaps a similar 'thing' with Rover V8's and Daimler 2 1/2 Litre's) was that were the first V8 powered car for most budding and potential American car enthusiasts - and, accordingly they were fooled in to thinking that a nice meaty V8 'soundtrack' meant that you were driving a real muscle car. As nice to drive as these cars may have been usually the very first traffic light 'Grande Prix' would end up with an extrememely disappointing outcome for one of the drivers...........
- probably should have qualified my comments by saying that the Valiant particularly could be 'woken-up' nicely with some hop-up parts. Rover and Daimler engines probably best in lightweight vehicles?CAPP0 said:

Anyone watch Mike Brewer's and Edd China's reworking of the 73' Camaro earlier this evening - surprised they didn't go foor a 4 speed auto rather than the modded TH350 - seemed a nice car except for poorly fitting nose cone......
Was that on normal TV or the other type i havn't got. LeighW said:

Yes, looks like a Rover V8 as well.

My mate in California sent me a txt last night saying that Charlie March is bringing Ken & Keith over to Goodwood Revival this year, along with seventeen of their Rolling Bones hot hots built over the years.....going to be doing track demo's.....probably like the Gasser's did along the startline a few years back.aeropilot said:

The Revival has been getting a little stale over the years and needs new blood like this.
Haven't done the Festival of Speed for a few years but remember the Rods on the cricket pitch one year,

Yeah, 2004 I think that was, which was the year after I last went to FoS.Seem to remember Dan Boone's gorgeous blue '32 roadster was one of them on display..?
Amazing to think that's been built nearly 20 years now, and it still looks as good today as it did then...!!
He lives not far from me.

Highlights for me were seeing three of the Beatles’ customised Cooper Ss up close, likewise racing Masers, Ferraris and pre-war Bentleys and some seriously rare Alfa and Abarth racers.

But that's more because its just got so big and so much more commercialised from say, its first decade.
That's just the nature of the beast though, as events get ever more successful they loose a little bit of the magic that made them special to begin with.
The Revival in the early days was great and had a very villagey atmosphere, as Goodwood relied a lot on clubs and people who knew people etc to create that atmosphere.
over the years these have been increasingly replaced by 'professional event' people, and while 'joe public' probably haven't noticed any difference, to those of use involved on the fringes of the event (or were involved) that's where a little of the magic has gone.
To the punter walking through the door, that is not noticed though.
I still love the event though, I just don't bump into as many people I know as I used to, 5 or 10+ years ago
Good friend of mine has just put a deposit on a '79 C3 Vette. I've seen plenty of pictures and videos and I must say it looks very smart, although I know the later ones are not as well thought of, but for him it's a birth-year car and it's also the colour he wanted (red). The car is in Scotland (and we're in Kent) so we held a FaceTime call yesterday with the seller and got him to take the kick panels off and a few other bits so that we could see as much of the birdcage as possible, all looks nice and black and original. The paint seems to be in very good order. There are a few bits to sort out but nothing major, and it's over 40 years old so that's to be expected.
In terms of the thread title, the seller had it up at £16.5k, after a few weeks and some to & fro my mate secured it for £13.5k. Luckily he also owns a large transport company, and has a truck going within about 20 miles of the car next week so his guys will pick it up from there.
I don't have any pics handy but will post one up when I get one.
