Hi guys, been watching this post from the sidelines from several months, some interesting posts and insights
Cadillacs are my thing, have owned over 80 now over the last 30 years, from late 40s to early 70s, mostly 50s, tend to run the convertibles a while and trade everything else. Some cars i keep a few years, some just a few weeks, its fun to enjoy lots of different cars. I only buy cars i like and i enjoy them til they sell, generally GM cars from the 50s 60s, also have a soft spot for a classic Chevy truck, and an Oldsmobile, and a Buick........ha ha
Currently running a 47 vert with the old flathead, last year of that shape, i love the old thing even though its like driving an early 50s truck with no power steering or brakes, still on 6 volt too. Had been using it a lot this year though the rear axle now need some attention, if anyone knows of one let me know
Recently bought a 54 Eldorado which had been on my want list for a long time, a keeper, for a while anyway :-) . Have owned most years of convertible from the late 40s to the late 60s at some point. Last couple of years was running a bucket seat 61 Eldorado and a very nice low milage 58 Coupe
Be interesting to see what those 50s limos make, im going to view them with a mate next week, i saw them in a barn in Essex 6 or 7 years ago when i was buying a 59 Buick Electra 225 Convertible, i think the owner died a few years ago and they got moved

Fabulous...my favourite year, and an Eldorado as well
Thanks, its a nice car, restored in CA about 20 years ago, been here since 2005 owned by the same guy, doesnt look like its ever had any welding underside, its been stood 10 years or so, im just going through the brakes and carb and a few little jobs, hopefully be done for Rally of the Giants in a few weeks. A 53 Eldorado is out ouf my reach now so this has been my dream car want for a while, i have previously had a 54 Series 62 Conv which we drove to Sweden and back in 2015 rat rod said:

Haven’t had much chance to drive it anywhere yet due to work but will do as soon as I’ve put the shiny bits back on - the front grille is now off the car and in bits so I can repaint the black mesh and the chrome trident emblem looks really nice now after an overnight soaking in oven cleaner! Disaster almost struck the first time I tried reversing it out of the garage though, as the driver’s side door mirror just caught the frame of the up and over door and dislodged itself from the mounting plinth. Luckily it didn’t smash into pieces and it popped back into position but I will need to make sure it doesn’t come loose again, and it looks like I need to replace the two small single garage doors with a full width one after all.
I’ll have to get my arse in gear and start a proper reader’s cars thread on it, rather than continue to contaminate this one. I’ve already made the decision to have the engine bay completely refurbished by either Migliore or Shiltech, it’s just a matter of raising the funds to do it, I reckon it could be a few grand all in, but will be worth doing and I think the car deserves it

Its a shame the ferries have all stopped now, as back in the early days of that meet quite a few Brits used to drive their cars over for that, but its a hell of a hike now, through the tunnel and up through France, Belgium, Holland, over the bridge into Denmark and across Sweden.
Great road trip if there's a a few cars in convoy for moral support etc. There used to be a few of the hot rod guys take rods over to the A-Bombers weekender going via that route in the late 2000's as well, although there was the fast cat ferry Harwich-Hook that was only 3 hours which cut a bit of time off, but that's not running now either. Its now a slow overnight for trucks ferry crossing now.

yes the Power Big Meet, have been every year since the late ninties , used to have 4 or 5 car loads in convoy but we stopped driving since they changed the ferries , its too much of a slog in an old car compared to what it used to be, i'd like to do it again but maybe in a late 60s car thats a bit easier to drive and easier on my back and knees now im getting old lolI guess it was Big Power Meet in Sweden you went to in 2015?

same when you get a new toy.
Nice to give it that detail clean,so much easier keep on top of it after , but don't do a me and clean it
so much i don't want to use it, that's when the Rods come into their own, ever seen a shinny Rat Rod,
I went to Shiltech to see a very highly modified race 308 GTS ,but it was full of after market electronic wizardry
being injection and to much like what i already got but mines a bit more old skool on Webbers with not a ecu in sight.
Nice people though and would leave a car with them with no hesitation.
Where do we find this readers car thread as i've only been on this one and the occasional super car thread

thanks, ive had about half a dozen 40s Cads prior to this so knew what to expect, i'd wanted a 47 Convertible for a long time, just love the styling, and had been chasing this one for a while, it wasnt really for sale, i spotted it in the back of a photo on an advert for another car and contacted the guy, took a while to reel it in but finally got it earlier this year, its not mint but rust free and runs/drives well. I had a 49 Conv for a couple of years so knew what to expect, bought that one in the north of Sweden, a mate over there drove it to Gothenburg for me and i collected it at Immingham, 2015 i think as i had the other 54 at the same timewho cares ,well worth the extra effort ,

To find the Reader’s Car’s section just go to the top of this page and click on Gassing Station and you’ll see it’s the seventh one down from the top on that page - I’ll probably start a thread on the Maser later in the week

'41 Coupe - love it
'41 Sedanette - love it
'48 only dashboard

Interesting style changes with Caddi's. Love the pre-war coupe's, also the '47. Its the grille that does it for me. Prefer the rear fender treatment of the '49 when introduced and the Sedanette. Don't care for the custom versions like Cadzilla but think that a lowering job looks good. And that '48 only dashboard.
'41 Coupe - love it
'41 Sedanette - love it
they are great looking cars, i have been offered a 41 Coupe recently but its a manual which doesnt appeal so much, 48 has a great dash and i love the accents under the tail ight but prefer a 49 because of the 331 engine which is a great motor, good power and economy, a good friend has a 49 sedan with low miles, you can barely hear it run and it drives spot on, mpg well into the 20s on a run'41 Coupe - love it

ANY FORD lovers out there and got a hour to spare, just been watching the 2021 Ford Nationals in Carlisle in Pennsylvania,
On the SAMSPACE 81 CHANNEL. A bit slow at first but worth staying with it as some nice Galaxie's, Torino's Thunderbolts and T/Birds not
to mention Mercury's Marauder's and usual assorted Mustangs,
PS ---------Just found pt2 , only watched a couple of minutes but i would say it's better than Day 1 video as got more cars that interest me.

I seem to recall a rather nice black '41 coupe with huge visor on the windscreen - it seemed to be doing 'the rounds' some years back (mind you it could have been a year or two either way) is it still available? - saw this '42 for sale (or one very close in all respects) locally within just before Covid - Motorama said:
