Was it a '41 Caddy?
Another mate of mine who lives in the Sutton/Worcester Park area owns a black '41 Pontiac Silver Streak coupe, and that has a large sunvisor fitted...??
Trev has owned it for years and uses it a lot.
Definately a black Cadillac coupe - with visor - perhaps not a '41. TBH it was a long time ago and ones memory can fade...........scratchchin

they are great looking cars, i have been offered a 41 Coupe recently but its a manual which doesnt appeal so much, 48 has a great dash and i love the accents under the tail ight but prefer a 49 because of the 331 engine which is a great motor, good power and economy, a good friend has a 49 sedan with low miles, you can barely hear it run and it drives spot on, mpg well into the 20s on a run
I seem to recall a rather nice black '41 coupe with huge visor on the windscreen - it seemed to be doing 'the rounds' some years back (mind you it could have been a year or two either way) is it still available?
Could have been my mate Paul's '41, his was black with a visor, and which he had owned for years, even back when he was in the Navy, but finally put up for sale when he and his wife emigrated. But that would have been a good 5 or so years ago?
That may have been about right (if the same car) - have a feeling that I saw it a few years further back South London way, Merton, Catford?
It was a fairly recent import that hasn’t been out, I bought a 53 Caddy Coupe off the guy a couple of years ago which he bought in at the same time, black car with a continental kit, I think there’s a video of it on my YouTube page , search for Mister Motorama on there, a few of my cars past and present on there, worth a look if you’re into Cadillacs etc

ANY FORD lovers out there and got a hour to spare, just been watching the 2021 Ford Nationals in Carlisle in Pennsylvania,

On the SAMSPACE 81 CHANNEL. A bit slow at first but worth staying with it as some nice Galaxie's, Torino's Thunderbolts and T/Birds not

to mention Mercury's Marauder's and usual assorted Mustangs, thumbup

PS ---------Just found pt2 , only watched a couple of minutes but i would say it's better than Day 1 video as got more cars that interest me.

I don’t buy many Ford’s, the occasional 60s Galaxie coupe or wagon, I had a crazy 63 Galaxie Custom a couple of years ago , imported from Bakersfield by a mate, wild paint and air ride, sold it to Bill Shepherd at WheelsDay, won a pot on the day as well. Have had a handful of 32 Ford rods as well

Is that the one on "The Market" Alan Carringtons been advertising it for a while now, for around the £65K ,

With what's been spent plus it is the real deal GTO don't think that was out the way at £46K,

Funny part is if you had offered him that he probably not taken it, Auction route can be last resort in the hope

that 2 or better still 3 bidders won't let go and it makes close to what you are asking in the ad, if it doesn't your

more inclined to take the bid that's there cos that's what it's worth on the day, scratchchin

Yep, it would cost an absolute fortune to build today, modified cars are custom stuff, great if its for you, but you alone, there's 20k in the motor and trans! scary..........................................................

The other GTO with the manual box is now at 29K, so 25 would probably buy it? Really dont think im going to put much more into the Dodge, it probably owe's me more than its worth now, laugh

I know Dean, agreed to buy a 49 Fleetwood off him about 6 or 7 years ago, he said it would drive home, drove 280 miles up there to find the car was missing the carb, valve covers and radiator, he forgot he’d put them on another car, as you do lol. He showed us a load of other cars but we came home without anything,

I love a 60:Caddy, have had most models over the years , bought a series 62 Conv off Dream Cars in 94, kept it til 03:, a long time for me , had a Biarritz more recently for a couple of years , that went to Sweden, right up north in mining country

Ye he had lots of bits and pieces when i went up there, some in garages others under tarpaulins, he told me the local council

had been round and told him to clear some of the cars as a neighbour had reported him for dealing but he's not ,just had to many cars ,

i think 14 when i was there, most none runners, one car i remember was a mint 55/56 Pontiac convertible ,that and the 41 was the

best cars there ,The 60 convertible was wedged in a corner so couldn't drive it or look at it properly, He sent it down on a truck,

The drivers seat was just resting in there ,not bolted down and the axle also was only just bolted in , Hay Ho,

The car is in Porto Banus now gone ,abroad like a lot of Caddy's are now, Think i remember your 60 convertible ,was it cream or white .

The '48 sedan I bought perhaps 20 or more years ago from a buddy who badly needed the money (and the same reason why I had to sell it a year or so later - it going to Belgium) - it was not a pristine car - more of a resto job - it ran and drove but needed a bit of sorting out in the braking and body areas. It came with an unusual story about the first owner in the UK. Whether true or not who knows. Seemingly the first UK owner was a British army officer based in Leeds or another large town/city in the north. He seemingly ran the car well in to the late 50's (possibly longer) and was supposed to be a bit of a character. Back in the days when a semaphore indicator was the norm - and driving a left hand drive car, the officers trick (so I was told) was when making a right turn to stick a white painted glove on the end of a walking stick out of the passenger front window to indicate his intention. Apparently he was well known in the area for carrying out this eccentricity until one day colliding with and seriously injuring (or killing) a cyclist. This supposedly put him off driving and he sold the Cadillac and gave up driving. Whether there is any truth in the story......who knows?

he still had the 55 Pontiac vert, looked a nice car, also a 49 Cad Conv in yellow, a 54 Eldo which i asked if i could buy and he keeps dangling the carot but i cant get him to part with it.

Yes, the 60 i had back in the 90s was white when i bought it from Dream Cars, duringing 95 we repainted it Old English White and re did the interior and put a new top on it, back then it was hard to justify the car financially with a growing family so i did a lot of weddings and pop video work with it. Its still around, owned by the same guy that bought it in 03, only seen it once at North Weald about 10 years ago, still looked well. It was a great car, never put a spanner to it in 9 years bar servicing.

It was only my second Cadillac, first rag top, had a fair few since, was into fast Fords as a young man, Cadillacs seem better value now compared to £60k MK1 Escorts. Had a Rover P5B Coupe in my early 20s, my dad always had them, would like to get another but its hard to find a nice one thats not toshed up

one of the last pics i took of the 60 just before i sold it, wife wanted a new kitchen as we'd just moved house, i sold the Caddy and went straight out and bought the 59 Olds convertible, she went crazy lol

We could write a best seller on various story's that seem to accompany our cars, problem is the general public who

drive normal cars and have never had access to our slightly eccentric situations we have found our selves in from time to time

would think it all to fictional.

I always thought a couple of nights sleeping on the couch was always well worth having another toy in the cupboard,

I remember seeing that Olds at Billing one year, can't believe were those years have gone by so quickly.

From memory did it end up in Sweden, So many cars are now in Europe ,we made it so easy for them bringing

them in from the States especially when we were in the EU.

Sold a 59 and a 56 Coupe de Villes to Italy and a 59 Eldorado Seville to a guy in Denmark, he turned up with his enclosed truck

but must have got his measurements wrong and we had to dismantle the whole front end of the Caddy to get it to fit ,then only by a

cigarette paper , dare say you could write your own book with crazy stories.

She wasnt happy lol. Olds was a nice car, one of Luxury And Powers better cars, very original bar one repaint, did a few bits to it, gearox rebuild, manifold gasket job turned into heads off one of which was cracked so sourdced another from an old gent in Croydon who used to race Allards back in the day and had a shed full of vintage Caddy and Olds parts. Second time i put the convertible top up it split from being so tight after being down for 15 years, my trimmer made a new top in dark red cloth and we had a hide of leather made in pearlescent dark red to repair the front seat. Paid £19k for it in 03 which i though was strong then, i'd agreed £17k with the seller initially but someone offered more so i had to match it , sold it for £29k to Sweden three years later. Seen it every year since when ive gone to Vasteras.

Ive always found the Swedes good to deal with, you usually end up a friend for life after a sale or purchase
