Rarer stuff is available still - perhaps not everyones choice but a coupe with 345 hp 428 cu in and bucket seat interior for £13K seems a bargain compared with some of the shizen being advertised
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1966Ford-Mecury-Maraude...
Rare ,That's a under statement, Don't think i've seen one before, you could go to every American show in the country and doubt very muchhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1966Ford-Mecury-Maraude...
there will be one at any of them. Not sure if i like it but could grow on me. A lot of car for your money , Colour wise very Florida ,reminds
me of a RR Shadow L.W.B with the small back window, called the Silver Wraith on the Shadow 2's which I bought off the main local RR dealer
just before they were going to do a colour change on it ,Similar to the Mercury in Chrome yellow with white vinyl roof, one Bournemouth
lady owner who just used it to take her many kids to school hence L.W.B ,not much in the way of S.U.V's back then .
Love or hate it but it certainly got a lot of comments good and bad,a couple said it reminds them of a lemon meringue and just needs a
cherry or a walnut on the roof just to finish it off.
The same RR dealer supplied another yellow car, this was a 68 2dr Mulliner Park Ward Shadow but with a black vinyl roof and interior.,
Imagine that back in 1968,the Cloud had only been out of production 2 years earlier ,i must have been around 17 and never seen anything
like it , Remember pressing my nose against their showroom window when it was brand new waiting to be collected by it's first of two
Sandbanks lady owners . Reg no BB100 . Ended up buying the very same car some years later not after almost losing it to a American
who wanted to take it back to Florida ,lucky for me he changed his mind.
, Had to pinch myself when driving home from the Bournemouth RR dealers after all those years., Didn't let the squeaky coach built body
and trying to keep it in a straight line on it's original Avon Turbospeed cross-ply tyres put me off.
Sorry didn't mean to bore you with my reminiscing but the yellow Mercury just reminded of those 2 yellow Rollers

Don't really like the S55 myself - too fidgity styling-wise. It was Mercury's equivalent to the limited run Galaxie 7 Litre with pre-CJ 428 cu in lump. This Mercury would have had heavier duty suspension (well, heavier duty in an American's view) - this is really a great buy for someone looking for a rare Yank but IMHO will really lose something in performance terms being an automatic - a FoMoCo's close ratio top loader would really perk things up a bit!

The earlier 60's Marauders looked so much better ,not as good looking as 63/64 Galaxie's , Been watching 60's NASCAR racing on on You Tube recently there's lots of Marauders racing on there, good looking cars then what happened, There a rare sight over here compared to the Galaxie.

Yeah i had a 68' 350 Le'Mans, great car, same sort of size to a B Body etc, but Full size, just too big, ok if your Frank Cannon
people buy them,it looks like a GTO but doesn't go or drive like one.

Dream Shadow would have either been an early 2 door car in Brewster Green (I think) with red interior - but Bentley T1, not Shadow.
Here i go again, After finding out that there was not many Bentley Corniches made compared to the Rolls equivalent i thought lets get her up to London and get it valued as the chances of getting another one will be slight,
Frank Dale when they were in Hammersmith offered me the most for it but not after telling me that the bright metallic blue it
was in and the magnolia hood and interior had to go as it was more a Rolls colour appealing more to a flash Harry. Apparently
Gentlemen buy Bentleys and are more suited to darker more conservative colour like dark blue, burgundy or funny enough brewster green
I was thinking they were just saying that to get the price down. Anyhow they offered the most so i sold it to them and sure enough they
repainted her in a none metallic Royal blue replaced the magnolia hood with a brand new grey one. they left the magnolia interior which now
looked ok as it had blue carpets to break it up, Must have cost them a fortune even back then but the car was toned down no end, fit for a gentleman.
So you must have good taste then,
I'd love to own a Chinese headlight Continental or a S3 Flying Spur Continental like the one Jason King drove on Department S
Wonder how many on here remember that.

Was fairly seriously looking for a Camargue some years back - me and 'er indoors were quite sold on the idea od one this was when they were really quite 'unloved' and compararatively bargain basement compared with 'ordinary' RR's........ remember looking at a gold one the Frank Dale & Stepsons. Loved the aircraft style instruments and the wonderful interior. Also recall an ultra low mileage silver lhd one at a dealer half way between Cambridge and Peterboro' - owned by a Saudi or other middle eastern it bizzarely had grey velour upholstery - that in turn reminded me of a 351c Australian Ford Falcon that would have passed for a Mk2 Granada with a 'stretch' job. This also had a grey velour interior - horrible, like the worst 1970's custom interior using fabric offcuts fro Romford market!

Two of my mates had Camargue's , one was one of the last in a light shade of gold and a beautiful low mileage car but he paid sillymoney for it at the time, i think from memory around £45k when lesser cars were selling for £25k ,the other end of the scale was a average
car painted up for resale, sold that for £18k. Can't remember the last time i saw one.
Yeah Department S, Peter Wyngarde was a complete Dude, complete with 69' porn moustache and crushed velvet smoking jacket,
surely everyone over 60 would remember him
Loved Danger Man, Man in a suitcase , The Baron , the later American show , Beretta with Robert Blake, was a favourite of mine too.................
The Cloud 3 Chinese is such a epic looking car, for absolute presence cant think of anything that comes close,
surely everyone over 60 would remember him

one for you ,Dan Tanna in "Vegas "driving his 57 T/Bird ,thought it was cool when he would drive into his unit were he lived and leap out
of the T/Bird straight onto his couch , compared that to what we got now, Mid-summer murders,Lewis,Vera
The Chinese headlight model made a lasting impression on me first time i saw Peter Sellers driving one in "There's a girl in my Soup" with
Goldie Hawn , great early 70's film mostly filmed in Chelsea and the South of France . .
Yeah Vegas was very cool, T bird was i suppose a later day Vette as in route 66' Robert Urich , sadly died quite young,
One of my relations who lives on my estate has a similar thing, he' built a big extension on his house, and incorporated the garage into his kitchen, had one wall made of glass , now he can look at a 50's Ford Pickup while having breakfast !
Its a nice thing, modern Ford running gear, pearl white body with blue flames!
With any luck we may be able to do a couple of shows this summer

The way prices are rising you probably have to pay more for one than some Italian super cars.
Definitely the equal if not better than some european designed cars.
The second gen was very influenced by European cars and the Ferrari 250 Berlinetta and Jaguar XJ6 were certainly evident in the Camaro.Definitely the equal if not better than some european designed cars.

maybe just because i could, she didn't like the hub caps and American plates on the wall let alone a bike.
With Wheels Day cancelled yet again things are not looking great for the rest of the coming season and looks like keeping
a eye open for smaller meets organised by local clubs may be the answer this year ,have to keep look out on social media which is
not easy for me. at the best of times.
Hope the MM meeting doesn't get cancelled at the last minute, would be nice to at least get to that one if nothing else.
Should get another invite to join the Hot Rods in Gasoline Alley at the Rivival so at least will get two meeting in this year . just have to
wait and see how it goes.
Got my jab tomorrow so there's something to look forward to.

Yeah i hope the Vaccine may be able to save this years shows etc?
im hoping the local gatherings will be able to go ahead though , i guess the next couple of months will tell !
Was also looking forward to the Mopar Meet in Brighton ,
One things for sure, C19 and the "recession" has'nt had any negative impact on the prices being asked for so called "classic cars" !
but it dos'e seem to have given so called Modern Classics , ie 96' Bm's etc ????? what we used to call Bangers some kind of credence !
so now its acceptable to put any sack of s--- up for sale under the banner of a " Modern Classic" ffs.........................................................
looked at the Market the other day, looked like they had walked around Tecos' car park and took pics ...........................
Gasoline Alley? is that the place that was near Wrotham ? i never actually made it there, i used to buy my stuff from John Woolf Racing and Americar etc

Also there was quite a well know drag racer had his business next door ,can't remember his name but he died a good few year sago .
No the Gasoline Alley i was referring to is a section of the Goodwood Revival that is for Hot Rodders, rockabilly's , 40's/50's trucks,American cars/wagons
Same vintage Harley's and Indians with live rock and roll bands and a open air dance hall.
Should show some scenes of what's going on ,on You Tube , Good fun but after three days of it you need s holiday to get over it.
As all events at Goodwood it was cancelled last year so hoping that it will go ahead this year.
If you only go to on event all year that is the one not to miss and your wife will enjoy all woman dressing up in period,
It's like walking around on a film set and the racing ,noise and smell is unbelievable.Watching it on tv is ok but you need to be
there to soak it all in. Wonder if Lord March will put me on commission.
,
Sounds fun, ive never been to Goodwood , heard good things but never made it myself, its always seemed to clash with other stuff, my boss at the Jag place seemed to live there!
Maybe one day were manage to go and have a look, we enjoy the very low key approach at Santa Pod when the MMA does its thing,
its all very relaxed, and if the weathers fine, some good racing,
Just want the snow gone, lockdown gone, sun out, and get back to living again, cant wait for our favourite roof top terrace to reopen, good food, cold beer
and look out over the sea....................................................................

Ye it's great fun but tiring at the same time, really to much to see in one day, I went to the first one in 1998 and only missed one since,Maybe one day were manage to go and have a look, we enjoy the very low key approach at Santa Pod when the MMA does its thing,

New girlfriend booked holiday on the same date , needless to say she didn't last long. Only live down the road so would be rude not to
when people come from all over Europe and even the States. Have seen a marked change though now getting a little corporate and
the Hooray Henry's just going there because it's the place to be seen ,like Henley Regatta and Royal Ascot but over all most are there for
the racing and unique cars you wouldn't see anywhere else.
Yes at the moment it would be nice just to have our freedom back and return to the small things in life that we took for granted that give
us pleasure. Nice view of the Charger but still wouldn't pay £75k for it, as for the Road Runner's roof ,don't like vinyl roofs at the best
of times ,no comment.
