Why so high?

Just noticed that Classic Automobiles World Wide have just listed their 70 T/Am again on C&C

for £52,950,

Unless they have sold it a couple of times and it keeps bouncing back they have had it for sale

for the best part of two years although i seem to remember someone on here saying that it

was either the personal car of the owner of the garage or it had come back on SOR ,

Probably about right on the price now especially compared in American Pete's blue car

Personally as with a lot of these US cars they are seriously over valued,
Average US price obviously condition depending is around 75K$
So around £60K , just plain stupid!
Fabulous old muscle without doubt but they ain’t a supercar,
I’ve zero intention of going down the anorak route with my resto, hunting down factory correct hose clips and heater hose that’s date marked and got a fake GM embossed on the materials,
Clean crisp straight and as usable as I can make it on my budget,
If I’m smiled on and discounting my labour costs I should bring home at sensible money and hopefully have a reasonably nice car will make others smile

Just taken delivery of my first 5lts of Ferro-bet,
Another on its way, and starting to collect the consumables for the quest ahead !
Also looking at a Rotisserie, can get a perfect usable one for around 400 quid on Evil bay,new so was kinda hoping I could find a used one for around half that,
But zero currently on offer .

Yes,they were there for many years ,close to Chelsea Cars ,

They have moved to a large unit just outside Petersfield in Hampshire apparently because of the overheads and traffic in London even unable to

take some of these classic cars out for a demo due to fear of them overheating ,

They still have a London Tel number and the same for the region in the ad.

They have a You Tube channel for advertising their stock including driving them.

Close by was Paradise Garage in Parsons Green and The Garage On the Green ,Victoria Classics , Claridon Carrage Company and

Frank Dale in Fulham all within a few miles from each other.

Back in the day there was so many classic dealers trading in the mews around Cromwell Road ,Coys and Dan Margulies who regularly

was seen road testing 1950's single seater Maserati 250 F's ,Vanwall 's , Ferrari 's , D and C Types 's driving out of the mews onto Cromwell Road

with no number plates ,tax or mot's and doubt if they where insured for the road,

Now try that today and see if plod turns a blind eye.

Straight Eight and Cliff Davis 50's racing driver who delt in American cars were not far away in Goldhawk Road Shepherds Bush.

The Chequered Flag in Chiswick and Performance Cars on the Great West Road are all no more ,

Great fun back then cruising around London window shopping including Park lane and Berkeley Square for the

posh stuff that was just a dream then.

Danny Donovan from Straight Eight is now in Kew trading as DD Classics and Frank Dale have moved out of town to Camberley

but most have gone with nothing to replace them which is sad .,

I haven't driven in to central/west end/chelsea/fulham/hammersmith for over 3 years. Used to love the 35/40 minute/12 mile trip later in the evenings for a meal in Covent Garden, perhaps shopping trips on a Saturday........first 'kiss of death' was the cycle routes, the narrowing and reduction of the carriageways. Couple that with seemingly all of the UK registered Uber Toyota Prius's descending and swarming in these areas and add-in the unlicensed Rickshaws - and then the 20 mph speed limits - lets not forget the almost weekly marches, demonstrations, running and charity events - not forgetting the major roadworks closing-off many roads (all without prior notice) - the proliferation of cameras on box junctions and parking zones and of course the now expanded hours/days of the central London congestion charge - and for those of us with older non classic but non-compliant cars the ULEZ charges - not forgetting the QE2 bridge fees (which should have been free but got sold-off to the Froggies) and the Blackwall tunnel and soon to be introduced new Silvertown tunnel fees for both - and what about the bridges that have been closed?........OK so go by rail/tube........fine if you only want to travel during the day - want to stay up in 'the smoke' in to the early hours and don't mind the druggies, p*ss heads, nutters, muggers and dirty smelly unclean b'stards........that is only possible on most tube and overhead lines before midnight. Live in my direction and zero tube or overhead lines leave central London after 12:30am. I used to call into Performance Cars regularly in the late 80s. I knew the founder Mr. Goldschmidt and his daughter Lyndsey.
My Late Dads bought new in 64 Healey 3000 MK3 somehow ended up for sale with them in the Feb 69 edition of Motor Sport magazine

I live in what used used to be called the garden of England,
Well the garden had been ripped up and replaced with concrete!
Absolutely a dire place to live now,
but perhaps the most worrying is the fact this is just the start,
We’ve witnessed unprecedented changes to our way of life in the last decade, I can’t begin to think what utter Sh-te is waiting just around the corner!

Thinking back we pretty much used to the same in London, drive through Blackheath into the west end park on the pavement in Gerrands Street in China town then blow onto Shaftesbury Rd, to a few clubs

Same reason i don't go up there anymore, not good on the tubes ,the places i want to visit are not far apart but to far to walk to between them all,

Would love to drive around some of the old haunts in a reliable classic rather than in my daily, would make it a bit more special but think i will be

disappointed in what i might find , I heard Richmond is a nice place to have a walk along the river lined plenty of cafe and pubs so may try that one

day soon before it gets too hot and crowded and only a hour or so 's drive ,well at least that's what it use to take not that long ago ,

As a born and bread Londoner, I never thought I'd be saying I'm glad to be out of the place.

I still have to go in one day a week for work, which I hate, and half a dozen times a year I'll make the effort to get train in on a Saturday afternoon to have a beer and boogie at a club and hang out with old mates from the Rockabilly scene from years ago, but, its certainly not the London I remember from my youth.

Had lunch in the Pitcher&Piano next to Richmond Rd Bridge, and a walk and a few beers further down river at the White Cross.
All a bit trendy and not my thing really, but a pleasant enough way to spend a few hours catching up with a mate, before catching train home.

Been there a couple of times , my brothers best mate used to live in Chertsey and had a lovely old 38” Offshore Broom tied up at the end of his garden!
