My spare doesn't have a sensor fitted in it but the orange dash warning light is constantly on and the menu thingy tells me the spare tyre pressure is low.

Spent ages on google but seems I need an OBD reader and a car PIN code..is there no simple remedy?

Thanks in advance.

Judging by my recent experience, no there is not. It appears it is a main dealer job, not even my local Fiat garage could help with my Renegade even though they sell the 500X which is the same under the skin.

Probably cost more to fix than car is worth.I will just have to put up with it and hope it doesn't cause a problem for the next MOT.

You can disable TPMS with an OBD adapter and JScan - http://jscan.net/ - or Appcar - https://appcar-diagfca.com/en/

I did this on my Grand Cherokee when fitting new wheels. I don’t know if you can disable a single wheel but you can turn it on and off when required. Quite handy for other options too like DRL, auto dip wing mirrors on reverse etc.

Many thank but that's all a bit beyond me I'm afraid. There was a time I could fit an engine / gearbox all on my own but Hillman Imps, Mk3 Cortinas etc never had OBD and such like. Although did have a quick look at the link and it seems TPM on my 2005 Jeep Cherokee is not supported anyway.

It’s actually easier to use than you’d imagine but no point if your model isn’t supported. Next best option is fitting a TPMS valve in your spare but I’m not sure if it would need coding to the car.

Just take out the spare for the MoT, then the 'fault' is explained by the lack of a spare.

Wasted effort.
It would only be an MoT failure if it the car was from Jan 2015 onwards.

Went through fine even with spare wheel left on back.

The display states the spare is low (but isn't and is clearly visibly not flat) but MOT man didn't seem bothered.

Can't really complain -18yr old shed with 150k on the clock biggrin

My TPS stopped working a few years ago, I have the replacements on my desk...
As it's a 2009 car, it isn't even flagged as an advisory
