Bellstaff jackets. Race, Trail, Trial, Road and Field-Master
Discussion
Can someone explain the differences please?
I have a Barbour International Duke but try as I might, it's too tight. The fit just isn't me.
Looking at the Bellstaffs and thinking they may be better suited to my stature.
42 / 44" Chest. 5'11" and thinking XL? Is this right?
Owners, experiences and advice sought please

Belstaff are very Italian in their sizing and TBH it's all over the place. You may find that you need an XXL.or beyond I am a similar chest size (take medium to large depending on the clothes maker) and my Scouter jacket is XXL. I tried an XXL Trialmaster Panther (the leather one) and it was tight. I personally wouldn't buy blind from them.
My Roadmaster is XL and 42/44 ,nice jackets but not even close to what they were when I had one in the mid 80’s ,they’re more of a fashion item now just can’t imagine going through a winter on a motorcycle with one now, customer service is second to none though ,switched out my dodgy zip for free and even reimbursed the postage…👍
owned by jim ratcliffe these days iirc.
agree sizing is all over the place, I’m same build as you, just checked and my fieldmaster is a 40! fits perfectly albeit it’s snug with the padded inner but attached.
there are different jackets for street/fashion and for biking, the latter are heavier duty and have pockets for armour. otherwise the differences between jackets are purely style. a fieldmaster for example is a trialmaster without the belt.

Go try some on... I have 6 Belstaff jackets and the fit and cut is all over the place depending on model and material. Also huge difference between 'old' (uk made) belstaff and new stuff which is made in Italy (I have some of those, and they are great, but more of a fashion cut than the workhorses of old)

As above I have about 10 different Belstaffs spanning 20+ years and depending when and where they were made and who the owners were at the time the sizing is all over the shop.
I have 3 different Roadmasters just in XS, S and M and I'm a medium.
I wouldn't buy blind without trying it on first, although they are getting better with size and descriptions on their website.
