wow those old what, is it a L98 seems pretty potent. Only electronic control and ignition mods to go from 200 somthing HP to 400hp....looks nice (for a poncho!) BUT 15k worth of nice??????

Hey, I'm a big fan of US muscle cars but this never was one. 225hp was the most the rather asthmatic L98 could muster and no way is a naturally aspirated L98 car going to make 400hp without a huge amount of engine work. You'd need a blower to make that sort of power.
There is one 3rd gen that is worth this sort of money and it's the Trans Am Turbo using the incredibly quick turbocharged Buick V6. You might even get 400hp from that.
3rd gens are getting more collectible but it will be ten years or more before they make that sort of money. The whole point iof an original car being worth a lot of money is that it is NOT modified.
As for 170mph and tyres that will do a suustained 190 (sic), how would he know, the speedo only goes to 140.
Well it was a very funny advert and you can't blame him for being a chancer but don't take it too seriously.

The Formula was simply Pontiac's "stripper" version of the plusher Firebird. It was the Camaro that was the lighter and more agile car and so Pontiac introduced the Formula as a more focused Camaro-esque car to try to shift a few more cars but it's essentially a cheaper version.
