15+ sec quarter out of a blown 6 litre LS2? - that can't be right - or it's nowt to brag about.
My car will run a high 12, 100+ mph, bone stock on street tyres, probably weighing 5-600lbs more than a Monaro.

Thanx, she`s a real babe and a proper sleeper. (They even made me put a lid on at the Pod even though I was nowhere near 110mph)

The Monaro`s a tad faster though wink

Ah, right.... but that's not exactly mental. I would have expected a lot faster than that from a 6.0.

Well she`s mental cos she`s 18ft long and only a 2 seater.

As this does seem to be causing some confusion, THE MONARO has an LS2 and MENTAL BETTY runs the 1/4 in 15.1.

Which is a very good time IMO

Here she is.

Likewise, got it all bass-ackwards. Still not sure about the merit of a 15 sec pass though. I was at Orlando SpeedWorld at the weekend where a GMC Yukon was running big 15's.

It's about the same as a 3rd gen 205hp Camaro Z28 in my experience. My 175hp Z28 wouldn't get past 16.2. 15's is average hot hatch territory which for a car that size is...er, mental.

She still has an open diff, maybe next year I`ll stick a tru track in and that should bring the time down a tad.
Mind you 1/4 mile`s not what she`s about so I prob won`t, with the 700R4 she ticks along nicely at 90 without even breaking a sweat, the downside is I do tend to get pulled out on a lot as she catches folk out.
My wife also has an Astra VXR and stock that did an identical time and speed (its now got a stage 1 remap and an LSD and does a 14.4@99mph)
And that`s a real quick car....

Mental Betty is the coolest thing I've seen in ages, love it. Just started to have a play on the 1/4 miles
myself for the first time this year and really enjoyed it, Best time was 13.40 @ 103mph which I dont think
is too bad for a 2300KG truck on 22 inch low profile tyres? If I keep it would like to get some drag slicks
as I'm suffering with my 60ft times 2.04 Recommend anyone who hasn't had a go to give it a try as it's great
fun.

Thanx for the thumbs up.

We often go to the RWYB days at either Shakey or Santa Pod, its a real hoot.......

(I`d kill for a 2.04 in the Monaro)

Maybe I've got the end of the stick here, but I've always thought that the standard method of power measurement at that time was "SAE", which I understand was very different to what we use today.

Hence, 400"bhp" motors thats would be out of puff at 120mph. Along with the other factors already mentioned of course, diff ratio's, weight etc.

Probably the biggest factor is the gearing then combined with the rear diff ratio can seriously limit top end.

That said my 351 cleveland 3 spd Torino (3.00:1 rear diff shouldn't be that great for acceleration) will trounce just about anything up to about 100mph (including my Monaro - a modern 350ci with 6 gears and a 3.46:1 rear diff) but will also go well clear of the end of the 120mph speedo (sat nav had me doing 146mph one time).

So in short I don't know!!! LOL
See what any 60s/70's muscle car had for a top speed with a 'performance' axle ratio like a 4.11! 105 mph if you were lucky - perhaps 115 mph if you had solid lifters.

You guys forget that before ca 1974 when the whole country went 55mph, speed limits were generally as high or higher than they are today...
