Complete frankenseiko off ebay:

The Hirsch 'Grand Duke' strap is probably worth more than the watch (as is the empty tin of milk toffees), but matches the black and red, unidirectional, bezel. The 40mm case is from Gianni Sabatini, the dial from a Seiko Quartz (any ideas which one?) and the movement is an automatic with about a 30 hour reserve.

Really like that. Might have to try and track one down.
Snap. That's really nice. I haven't searched yet, but did you track one down? Where's the best place to look?

I got this today.

Love it, could you update us on accuracy after a couple of weeks please? I'm curious how the 4xxx movement works in real life.
Yes, sure, happy to do this. So far it is pretty much spot on and in performance terms, up there on time keeping with my pelagos and 2254 SMP.

I wanted a Seiko blue dial, as there dial just seem to pop. Very happy with it.

My latest acquisition... Silver "Proof" Pogue from Oct 69.

Silver dial, silver car smile

Wow, That is seriously nice and very early pogue. I would love a silver proof dial to go with my mine.

That looks lovely. I have a '74 yellow Pogue, but would quite fancy getting an early one to keep the Silvers company.

July 1969 on the left...
Omg and Wow, you have two silver proof dial's. That is fantastic, they look so cool.

6138-0040 Bullhead for me today. It's marked SpeedTimer on the dial and clasp which means it was a Japanese market issue.

Seiko Pipin
I don't wear this watch anymore & have been thinking of letting it go - any ideas of the going rate ? I have searched & can't find any others for sale as a guide. The watch is mint , although I don't have the box or papers ( & I don't fancy ebay due to the high fees & scammers )
Thanks in advance for any help.

this is my dad's 8242-6000. Ignore the poor phone camera picture.

Was bought for him by my mother in 1980 to celebrate (commiserate?) being pregnant with me. The watch isnt worth anything other than the huge sentimental value it has, and will be worn on my wedding day next month to ensure that something of my dad's is present on me, seeing as how he cannot be there after passing away in January.

My Monsters, bookended with my 5600 & Squale 20 Atmos.
Been working from home for a few weeks, post an achilles op, and nothing else bar the Orange Monster is getting a look-in. Love that thing.

Anyone modded their watch? I have a 5 which I can use a donor case for this mod and can buy the other one with the dial for £60. I think it looks great and won't be an expensive thing to do.

Skip to 10:00 for the reveal.

I also have an SKX011J (same as the top one but with an orange face) but no picture on my computer.
Love that Grand Seiko!

I'd have that SBGA over a Submariner any day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

Love it!

Here's a closer picture, the textured dial looks amazing in the light.

I've also posted this on the £50 watches thread, but there might be more expertise here, so please forgive a double-post.

Chaps, I've broken my Seiko 5. I think I knocked it whilst camping and it's now stopped. Nothing is obviously/visibly broken. Any ideas? Any recommendations for repairers? Is it worth repairing?

Whilst there's undoubtedly appeal in shopping for a replacement, I'd prefer to revive this one if it's possible. I've had it for about 4 years I think.

Good story and memories.

How did the wedding go?
