I've also posted this on the £50 watches thread, but there might be more expertise here, so please forgive a double-post.

Chaps, I've broken my Seiko 5. I think I knocked it whilst camping and it's now stopped. Nothing is obviously/visibly broken. Any ideas? Any recommendations for repairers? Is it worth repairing?

Whilst there's undoubtedly appeal in shopping for a replacement, I'd prefer to revive this one if it's possible. I've had it for about 4 years I think.
I did the same with mine. Something had come off something. (Technical watch terms). Took a local watch guy 10 mins to fix so I would say it's well worth calling in somewhere to try.

Thanks. I've just given it a slap after following advice in the sub-50 thread, and it has re-started. Hopefully that's it 'fixed' - low-tech but effective.

... and then non-effective. It's stopped. I might just use it as an excuse to buy a new one.

Absolutely love SKX's. Joe (Variomatic) repaired mine which is has a huge senitmental value and I just cannot live without it. It's on a black NATO and looks the bks , just like yours!.

Iconic watches and after 17 years mine is still running like a dream.

Nice...I'll be ordering that strap to go with the same model I ordered from our friends in HK this afternoon.

I am close to ordering a SKX007 myself.

I don't need another watch, but they seem to get great feedback and they really 'pop' off the screen...

My excuse to myself is that I'm going on holiday soon, so will likely be snorkeling to as deep as 1m... Therefore I need a divers watch smile

I do the washing up everyday. That counts, right?

Certainly, but stick with the rubber strap.

Ordering this right now for the BiL who's turning 20:

http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-quar...

Wanted to get him a Seiko 5 but he's a big guy and couldn't find anything that had the right look over 40mm at that price point.

The last two seiko's I bought looked a lot better in person than in pictures, there really is a lot of quality to be found even in their sub £100 timepieces.

Guys, wondering if you could help. I'm looking for an Orange Monster as a beater/holiday watch but I've looked on Creation (as well as some other sites) and it's sold out/out of stock pretty much everywhere.

Does anyone have any idea as to why? Also, any alternative sites that may have it in stock? Otherwise I'm guessing I'll have to ask a colleague in Singapore/HK to get me one and send it over!

Thanks!

I have got a bit of a thing for Seiko, i have got 4 of them in my collection.

None of them particularly special but all different enough to compliment each other. the 1979 digital and the mid 80's square face belonged to my Grandfather. My favorite is the copper faced 5.

The great thing about Seiko is that someone like me who cannot justify spending big money can build a collection of interesting watches, in both style and mechanics, for very little money!

Nice collection!

Have you got model numbers on the two rightmost ones?

Is this something Joe (Variomatic) does on a regular basis? I have a 5 that loses a couple of minutes a day. It's almost cheaper to buy a new one but I'd rather keep it.

Seiko 5 SNXS77K1

Just joined the club and loving it so far. Incredible bang for your buck apart from the nasty bracelet.

My old 5, used as 'rough service' watch. Holding up quite well considering the various knocks & bangs it's had.
