TGV has a matt black one, I love that.

Suits the watch so well imho that I'm wondering why Seiko doesn't offer it out of the box.

Buying a modded one will cost you double what a regular one will cost though frown.

Not my pic, but I've just acquired this modified SKX. For me it is the perfect adaptation of the model.

Ah yes, I saw that on TZ. Looks lovely.
What is TZ and how do I get a watch like that ????

I've only just started wearing a watch after 20 or so years without one. I saw a titanium seiko in a jewelers and just had to have it. I now spend my time looking at threads like this smile
That's a modified SKX007 with a smooth/machined bezel - it's not available off the shelf but one of the mod guys will take your hard earned and pick an SKX007 up for you, mod it and ship it out to you.

As someone was asking about modified Seikos, this is possibly the nicest modified Seiko I've ever seen (from earlier in the thread)

Completely agree. Just looks *right*. My only gripe would be that I'm not a huge fan of the hands but it wouldn't put me off wearing that.

Cracking watch :-)

The point of a modified watch is you can choose things like that. There are various options for the hands.

THat is gorgeous.
It is/was gorgeous, but I foolishly sold it in pursuance of more expensive but not necessarily better things. Will I ever learn? It could be replicated and maybe one day I will have a go, as it was just about the perfect yet inexpensive day-to-day wear watch.

Still happy with the SKX007J
Accuracy pretty good, gains around 10 secs a day.
I've hardly worn my my expensive watches since this arrived, no real worries about wear & tear etc..

I'm currently pricing up what it will take to replicate it. I think it will come in at around £100 in parts, and a 007 can be bought for £150.

Looks like it's bezel, strap, hands, and I want to get a different winder.

I might have a crack at doing the mods myself smile

The original had contrasting day and date wheels. One of the most satisfying parts was the lovely, thick, double domed sapphire crystal.

Edited to add: I found the original build thread/blog for the watch. Link

Bought on a whim a couple months ago for £250 or so, find I wear it more often than my other pricier pieces.

I love these, I'll be pouncing on one soon I think. I like the blue, and I don't have a blue face watch at present, but I also like the black(?)/gold one which appears sometimes. I could end up with two….

I like the design, but that looks huge!
What's the size?

It's 42mm if I remember correctly. The photo make it look MASSIVE though...

Here's a poor quality snap for comparison.

This has become my daily - a really lovely, honest and unusual watch. Gets more positive reaction that the Batman. Now on a brushed Geckota Oyster strap picked up for less than £30.

About £300 all in.
