What's the point in a watch you don't wear?

I don't lose watches, so that's not a concern and I'm very careful / aware of what I'm doing when I'm wearing any of my decent watches.

Albeit, none at the value of this thing but I'd genuinely wear something of that value and more.

The minute I get my paws on a Zeitwerk*, for example, I WILL be wearing it.

* Could be a while hehe

Many thanks for the kind words everyone. It's not going to be in my possession immediately for one reason or another, but the second I saw it I knew I was going to buy it. I just had to, the more you look at it the more beautiful it gets.

They had a Grand Sonnerie and Minute Repeater there too, I have a couple of (poor) photos if anyone would like to see them. They were nice, but they were a bit much. Just like the Credor Fugaku, they were watches that you would look at in a glass case more than wear, and that has no appeal to me. I fully intend on wearing the Eichi II regularly.
Let's see the poor photos.

Kudos for not only buying something rare (i.e not another bloomin' Rolex) and also intending to actually wear it.

Where did you buy the Credor from? Grand Seiko boutique? How was the experience?

Is your 'hit list' complete now?

Thank you, I don't see the point of buying a watch and not wearing it. Sure, it could get lost or damaged or stolen, but you insure it where possible and you just accept that it might happen.

I have to admit, I've been cheating a little. That isn't my Eichi II, it's a show piece owned by Seiko. My own watch will arrive any time in the next three months or so. The Boutique gets one a year or so (this will be their second, they haven't been open long) and the only way on ensuring that it was mine when it comes in was to buy it and pay in full. Sorry! I couldn't resist presenting it as my own.

I've bought all my Seiko's from the Boutique, I go to university just down the road from them and so it's easy to just pop in. They're so so lovely, they are all massive Seiko nerds, believe in the brand and know the history which is really nice. It's always nice to just pop in, have a coffee and chat watches. The fact they have a Fugaku there helps, I've had a look a few times now. £415k is a bit rich for me though.

The hit list is getting there. I'd love a GS Peacock GMT, but then that's about it for Seiko. I'd like a Nautilus too, but they aren't much less than the Credor was. Sod that. There isn't anything that I have a real hankering for, although I do like the Glashutte Panomatic.

Photos!

As promised, they're awful. Sorry. The white balance on my phone was super messed up when they were on the table, and then when they were in my hand I had trouble keeping everything steady.

Here are all the masterpieces:

Here's the front and the back of the Minute Repeater:

And here's the front and the back of the Eichi II:

Is there a specific reason that the strap is on the "wrong" way round?

Um... No idea biggrin

It's a deployant clasp, I hadn't even noticed it was the wrong way around!

I've had a black one for a while now, lovely watch, well made and wears smaller than the dimensions would suggest.

Only found out about them yesterday. Wondering if they plan on bringing out a limited/special edition of this model.

You, sir, have done a brilliant thing. Great work.

I was feeling a little flush about picking up an SLA025 Unplanned this week!

Thanks. Until I saw it, I didn't get it. When I did, I had to have it!

Seen in a 2nd hand shop (Book off) in Fukuoka. Should have bought it. Quartz. Seems to have the snowflake dial -
SBGA 011

And look at that spectacularly immature emblem at 6 o'clock - phallus, testes AND anus.

Should have bought it. Should have bought it.
