Bought my first Seiko this summer for my beach holiday and love it. Worn every second day though it frustratingly runs out of power an hour or two before I put it on

I've got one as well, but with the different hand set. Absolutely gorgeous watch but almost impossible to read the time on it!

Yes loving mine, very striking and wears smaller than it is due to the lugs

Struggling to tell the time with my readers on though!

Arnie reissue arrived today so thought I'd let it charge up a bit on this lovely sunshine.

A first for me as I've never owned a solar watch before.

All my seikos are solar, fantastic, just wear it and forget about it, or if you rotate watches just let it get some light every 6 months or so.

I think this is an SNK809 - saw it on Wish today for about £20 plus p&p. Quite the bargain I think?

Wish is a mobile shopping site that connects buyers directly to individual merchants selling merchandise made in Chinese factories. ... Unlike most online shopping experiences, where you buy from a retailer, an item from Wish comes directly from the factory

I'd take the view that everything there is a copy or fake personally.

Does that mean my four quid Nomos isn't real.

A mate of mine has had this little beauty since new, has just unearthed it and wants to get it serciced.

Apparently Seiko have told him they won't service it because they no longer have the parts.

Can anybody recommend an independent who might be familiar with something of this vintage?

Serial Number is 6138 - 0012

Thanks!

Nice "UFO". I'm wearing one now. biggrin

It will be 6138 on the back, not 8138. 6138 is the name of the movement.
Some info here: https://www.thewatchsite.com/15-vintage-watch-revi...

I see that the new Seiko 5 is available in the UK, I really fancy the cream face Suits version with the mesh bracelet but £300 for a 5 seems a bit spicy.

I suppose that, in time, Creation will have them under £200 but I'm impatient.

Snda57 today just to make a change from the usual auto divers that seem to get worn all the time.
Great watches and seem pretty hard to get hold of now.

I've got mine on a brown leather strap at the moment but I like the look of yours on that colour strap.

Thanks It's a nice watch and wears well on the nato....its picked up a few dings and the crystal is marked up badly from a bit of scrambling in the Lake district.

I hadnt realised they had become hard to get hold of.

I thought I’d upload a small post on this thread now I’ve had the watch about a week and had time to learn about it a little more.
It’s a seiko presage SRPC97J1 and is limited to 7,000 pieces, though they also made 5,000 ladies versions separately. There is a clear caseback, on the edge of which the watch is inscribed with “limited edition” and which model number it is out of the 7,000.
The dial is inspired by a cocktail bar in Tokyo, specifically by the cocktails created by Hisashi Kishi at “Star bar” in Tokyo. The dial is called “Fuyugeshiki” which means winter day, and is meant to represent this day in Japan.
The watch has a deployant clasp on a multi-link bracelet and a slim profile. I literally haven’t taken it off since I was gifted it and have found it suitable for almost any occasion.
Apologies for my rambling, but I hope some of you find my little monologue of interest.

He definitely looks like he might be a good contact - thanks.

Anybody have someone they've used that they would recommend to service an old Seiko that Seiko themselves don't want to touch?
