Popped by the local dealers yesterday and spotted one of these:

https://monochrome-watches.com/seiko-prospex-autom...

Popped back today as I didn’t have the boy with me. Lovely watch that wore a lot nicer that I thought it would given it’s height and my pipe cleaner wrists.

It’s the same price that I can get a Speedmaster for though....

Need a Pogue reissue!

Ouch. The new Seiko pricing for autos is....quesitonable.

We'll see if people are buying these watches for three grand. Maybe they did the math and worked out everyone who would spend > 1.5k on a Seiko is happy to spend >3k...but it feels ambitious.

I’m hoping to find a similar offer for a Samurai if possible

Found my samurai on Amazon US.. imported to UK and with all taxes and duty the total price was £202, back in June/July.

Was that the orange one? I remember seeing it at the time on there so cheap but couldn’t decide if I liked it. Now I kick myself at missing such a bargain! I’ve not seen any even close to that price since

black/gilt turtle was £179 last christmas. Dithered and wish I’d bought one before they sold out.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these cheaper plus you can get an extra 10% off for signing up to their emails.

Not sure on the case shape but ordered one anyway as I need a non black dial in my collection. If I don’t like it I can easily flip it on eBay for a profit.

Given to me as an 18th birthday present circa 1998. Recently had a full service and new glass.

Of all my watches, my SKX007 and SKX009 get the most wrist time by far.

Haven't worn this for months. One of three 5's from India via eBay, all under £20 and lovely little things. Strange dial on this one which seemingly commemorates/has something to do with the Kyoto Protocol to reduce the onset of global warming..

Tried on SBGH269 in Sydney boutique this week. What a great looking watch and it felt so nice on the wrist too. With tax deduction it would have been £4,300 but having just recently bought a Tudor GMT I couldn’t justify it. Also tried on SBGN009 which probably sat on the wrist better. Again... resisted temptation. Both watches marked for the future though!

I don't know if this is the right place, but did Seiko discontinue the SKX moniker?

I see that they have a wide range of "Seiko 5 sports" in a number of colours that look nearly identical to the SKX.

Think they retired it as IIRC you could get one for around £120-140 but now they are more like £220.

Yes, the orange one. I haven’t worn it, 44mm is a little too big for me. I’ll stick it on eBay when there is another £1 final fees offer.

Seiko adjacent question guys, does anyone have an SKX jubilee bracelet they've removed in favor of something else and would sell? I bought mine on the dive strap and have had it on a few straps since but really fancy putting it on the jubilee. I bought said item from eBay but 2 sets of end links later and they still don't fit the case; not sure why end links are so problematic but having sent it back to the seller I'm back at square 1.

Ideally new/unworn as I don't want your plebeian bio matter all over it tongue out

Personal insults aside I'll happily pay the going rate and at least if it's been taken off an SKX then I know it will fit mine.

Thanks chaps

I have one exactly as you describe.
It's a rattly thing though, I wouldn't recommend it.

The strapcode.com ones are in another league but have a price:
https://www.strapcode.com/collections/replacement-...

Mine is in Belgium but I would be happy to let it go for a tenner + shipping.

Thank you Zes, much appreciated. I totally agree with you but somewhat ironically that's exactly what I'm after. I quite like the rattly nature of it and also the lightness. With the SKX I'd like it as Seiko intended, regardless of how bad it is!

I have it on a Miltat Super Oyster at the moment with solid end links etc (similar/same as Strapcode?) and as you say it's a very nicely made thing. I'll also be going to Strapcode for the gold IP strap for my soon to be purchased SRPC44 Turtle. For the SKX though I think the OE strap will suit it well. Excellent recommendation though.

Happy with your terms bud, I was in Belgium a few weeks ago I could have dropped by to collect, nevermind thumbup

I'll drop you a PM
