I think you'll find that's an SLA017.
Long since sold through, but available second hand. I think they made 1500, although that may be wrong.
They released an SLA037 this year, also limited run. Its blue and has a hi-beat movement, but otherwise similar.
The 62MAS was the original, which they're closely mimicking.

I bought a Seiko pressage Shippo enamel dial about two years ago for £1200. I noticed a new version for version for over £3k! What is the difference because the dials looks identical.
Are you comparing like-with-like? The current (sold out if you believe Seiko, or the 73 available at Jura for £1450) Shippo dial watches SPB073J1 and SPB075J1 are each limited to 2500 pieces. RRP for SPB075 is EUR 1450 and the SPB073 EUR 1650.

Circling the entrance of a deep rabbit hole with this one. All the Seiko chronos I had until this point were from the Suwa factory. Seiko's more mainstream Daini factory also produced their own, separate (movement and everything) lines of chronos - this 7016-5000 aka "Monaco" was from 1972, so a couple of years after the white heat of "first automatic chronograph"...
What a very very lovely thing that is.bigandclever said:

My watch is SPB075J1 £1250 and new model is SJE079J1 £3350. The current (sold out if you believe Seiko, or the 73 available at Jura for £1450) Shippo dial watches SPB073J1 and SPB075J1 are each limited to 2500 pieces. RRP for SPB075 is EUR 1450 and the SPB073 EUR 1650.

Your one is 6R15 ... 21,600 bph, approx 50 hours power reserve, 5.3mm thick. +25/-15 sec a day.
New one is 6L35 ... 28,800 bph, approx 45 hours power reserve, 3.7mm thick. +15 sec / -10 sec a day.
Whether that’s worth 2 grand is Seiko’s opinion

Ding dong! Great looking watch (and photography)
Do you have details on this watch please?
Thanks - think I got lucky with the iPhone and the watch is pretty photogenic! Do you have details on this watch please?
As richthebike said, it’s the SLA017. Limited edition but there’s still a few about on the second hand market.

There's a brilliant podcast by Atlassian (part of a series on leadership and collaboration) that explores why Seiko had Suwa and Daini compete with each other - if you're interested at all in their history, it's totally worth a listen.

Going to get myself a Seiko while my watch is in for a 8/10 week service. And start a small collection! Interested in the prospex SRPA21 which also has the Pepsi dial and appeals to me.
Any advice on best place to purchase from and best price of course! Looking like around £230 to £275 if I go through fleabay.
Also is it best to get the K version or J version built in Japan/Japan market?
Many thanks in advance

Technically shouldn't be posting this just yet, as it's a present for my birthday, which is a few weeks away.
After considering lots of options, decided to go for one of the new Alpinist inspired Prospex's for the time being. I'm impressed and looking forward to wearing it as an alternative to the usual desk diver.

What's the double crown for? And why isn't north lined up on 12? does it just follow magnetic north and rotate freely?
