The OEM rubber strap on the SBDX017 was basically a hard plastic, and the bracelet a bit flimsy.
I have 3 rubber straps from Seiko.

  • The SXK came on something that you described perfectly as a hard plastic strap, pretty terrible (the watch is great though, if it came with barbed wire I'd still love it).
  • The Monster Tuna (srpa83) came with a softer blue rubber that is very comfortable
  • The Arnie came with a very good rubber, similar to the monster tuna but feels even better and has a nice metal free loop.

How is the lume on the SLA bezel by the way? The early executions I saw was pretty sketchy (all on the 019 green ceramic LE). The triangle 'at 12' was a bit rough, but I'm told that's sorted now.
It’s nuclear like most Seikos and to the naked eye looks even. The camera picks up some variation on the triangle but you’d really struggle to see it otherwise. There’s no lines or scratches through it like photos I’ve seen of the 019.

I seem to be falling down the "Bruce Lee" rabbit hole.

First, this fairly uncommon brown PROOF from Nov 69

and now this JDM Speed-Timer from March 69
Yep, I fancy one of these myself especially with a stainless rally strap.

New strap day.

Will probably go back on the bracelet soon enough but fun to play around.

Straps from Scurfa watches. Very pleased for £24.

Had this 6105-8000 a few years.

Always wanted a 8110 but they are too much money these days, so bought a re issue instead as a holiday watch.

Another Pogue - this one, a birth month/year job that I've been hunting for a while...

Before Christmas, I got the rest of the gang together for a rendition of "Galway Bay"...

That alpinist is such a nice looking watch.
Is that the standard strap? How do you rate it?

Thanks ZesPak - yes it's one of those that looks better on than it does in photos.

I really like it, been after one for a while. It's on the standard deployment leather strap. I prefer it to the steel bracelet.

Also, this is having an outing today. First time in a while and I've fallen in love again!

That is a great looking watch. Does it come on the nato or a bracelet?

Thank you.
It comes on a lovely grey/green, leather backed cordura strap with an exquisitely finished GS deployant clasp.
There's a steel bracelet that fits too, which doesn't come with, but which I asked the boutique to throw in at RRP.
The nato shown here is from watchgecko. It's the Vintage Watch Co grey and I like the colour as well as the comfort. Lugs are 20mm so lots of options, but grey on grey works for me.

I love the Alpinist line. I bought mine 15 years ago (!) before they brought back the auto movements, but I think I've changed the battery once since I bought it and the titanium body still wears great.

Hi I've just got an all black seiko 5 SRPE69K1 like

But I on trying it I really don't like the nylon strap it just makes the watch feel too light (I know its not going to feel like a Rolex etc) , so I was wondering whether anyone had any recommendations for a black bracelet for it?

I think it is 20mm I tried watch.co.uk and Genuine Strap which is probably what I want but a bit more than I wanted to spend really. I've had a look on Aliexpress and its a minefield so looking for any trusted vendors/ options.

Aren't there two versions of most of these models? You get the NATO strapped version with a brushed bezel and a metal bracelet with a polished bezel. Is there a factory black bracelet for this model?

Not sure on the factory version with the bracelet but there appears to be a genuine one available in the link in my op, I was just wondering if there was something a bit cheaper available, it was an on the whim purchase and would prefer to keep the costs down on it whilst I save for something else that I have my eye on!
