That is one of my favorite watches at the moment. Have seen a few pop up discounted and will not be able resist much longer. I wish the bezel rotated it would be perfect, but still, it is just stunning. I'd take that over a GMT Rolex or Omega every day of the week.
Hi All,
Are discounts easily available for buying Seikos at a dealer?, I'm looking at a SPB185 for a first expensive watch, I mainly have cheaper Seikos, Orients and a Squale. I've seen one dealer offering a 10% discount code, could I get something better or does it depend on the watch?.
Also I would be hoping to trade up in a few years time, do you think the watch would keep some value?
Cheers

10% should be easily achievable - usually just signing up to the stores mailing list would get you that. Are discounts easily available for buying Seikos at a dealer?, I'm looking at a SPB185 for a first expensive watch, I mainly have cheaper Seikos, Orients and a Squale. Obviously depends on the model and the shop but I would think you could get a bit more off if it’s in stock.
I would highly recommend using James Porter & Son. Simon or Allan are very helpful.
They are based on Glasgow but ship anywhere and are really professional to deal with.
No affiliation, just a happy repeat customer.

I'll third it. I bought my GS Peacock though them on the reccomendation of Rob in the London Boutique, and they were really good.
Fourthed - bought my Snowflake from them 4 years ago. Got a good price on what I think was the last SBGA011 in the U.K. before the brand switch. Excellent service - watched carefully posted out and happy ever since..!

Here is my SNZG that I picked up used from eBay. I stuck the strap on myself. The previous owner spent a fair bit of money on it by replacing the stock movement with a nh36 and installing a CT double dome crystal. All I am waiting for now is the final fantasy hand set to come back into stock and the jobs a gudun'...
One thing that I will need to address if the badly aligned (wouldn't be a Seiko otherwise!) Chapter ring. Anyone know how to get to the chapter ring? It looks perfect in this pic but it's about 2degress out.

I've had one of those as my daily work watch for many years now. Mine is rather battered, scratched and with chipped glass, but it still runs ok no matter what abuse I put it through. One thing that I will need to address if the badly aligned (wouldn't be a Seiko otherwise!) To get access to the chapter ring you'll need to pop the bezel off.
Quite often though, the chapter ring has a key way that locates in the edge of the dial. If you take the back off, remove the stem and pop the movement out you'll see the back of the chapter ring and there might be enough movement in it to poke it from the back to line it up (Fnarr! Fnarr!).

Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a go when I got to strip it to change the hands. If you want the factory glass and metal bracelet (un-used still in wrapping), I'll send it to you for a £15 donation to charity. To get access to the chapter ring you'll need to pop the bezel off.
