I still think that the Monster was and still is the best value-for-money watch ever made. You can talk about your Rolex's, but for what it cost a Monster is, if you want it to be, a watch for life. Really tough, and in car terms equals that Toyota pickup that Clarkson & Co tried to destroy. I still have it, along with two others including a Prospex which cost four times the Monster, yet it isn't four times the watch that the Monster is.
I think I paid 120 quid for my gen 1. It's good for that money, terrible value at the current asking prices. Mine actually lines up reasonably well.

Dunno though. I don't love it.

I was looking at this Monster today, a Prospex version, waterproof to 200 metres, and so adequate for the shower and the swimming pool. And, being a Prospex, not bad value for money:-

Thought I'd give my 80,s chronograph an airing
Don't wear it much allways thought it a bit big on my small wrist.
I'm not enamoured of chronographs generally, or any watch with a lot of complications, but I really, really, REALLY like that.

I know the movement isn't very good and the finishing probably isn't as good as other watches for £1000ish...

But I just love how it wears and looks in the summer.

Loved my Monster but it’s at the bottom of the Med. I capsized in a dingy and managed to bend/break a springbar!

And that is why the NATO strap was invented…

I lost (for a few moments) my Datejust II in a swimming pool. One of the screw-in pins on the adjustable section of the strap came loose and as I came to one of the pool, my left wrist suddenly felt lighter. Luckily it was right at the shallow end, and whilst the watch itself was obviously found immediately, it took several minutes of bobbing up and down to find the pin that had come out.

If anyone is in the market there are some seiko discount promotions running on google shopping.

I saw A SPB077J1, new from dealer on google, delivered for approx 600 quid once you add all the discount codes and blue dial version also discounted.

Samurai Shu-Iro. Ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal and 4R35 movement. I even got lucky with the out of the box regulation which is sitting between +1-2s since I got it in Jan. The red waffle dial makes it for me.

whacked mine onto a zulu diver, the OEM Silicone diver strap is very nice but it lacks microadjustment. I had to heat the strap to get the lugs on, it should settle down over the next week or so otherwise i will re-heat the strap and re-align it.

That strap looks as though it is a couple of mm too small?

Yep, those visible pins would drive me insane.

Cool strap otherwise though!

Samurai ‘PADI’ with the wave dial. Apparently a limited edition but there are plenty out there and they’re not expensive.

The double domed sapphire crystal is from Namoki and really makes the watch.

The strap is from Crafter Blue and is excellent.

The heat has bent the rubber, I will reheat it again if it does not decompress on its own.

Managed to blag the GMT, kind of shows up the inky dial.
