Longines Hydroconquest?
Discussion
I think longines as a brand is on its way back up. I know it sits below Omega in the Swatch collection but it has a lot of heritage and they are very well made pieces. I bought a Conquest sport as i wanted a good level of water resistance but not a diver and i love it.
The only thing i notice is i have to adjust the time twice a month to keep it within 30 seconds of the actual time. Not as major issue but i don’t have to do this with my Omega Seamaster AT as the mechanism is that much more superior. Having said that the AT is almost 3 times the price!
I would and will buy Longines again for myself purely from a quality/value perspective and in fact bought my wife a conquest ladies watch not too long ago.

With regards to Longines' resurgence: I been looking at a crown pusher chrono recently and it is very smart. It appeals to me, I think, because I collect stopwatches so I appreciate the single pusher. Whether others will value the feature I am less sure, but I suspect that I will have one soon irrespective of its popularity.

Good value for a mainstream Swiss brand.
Steinhart are similar quality, but even cheaper. You don't get the fancy packaging, or the buying experience, though.
Having owned both I can definitely say a Steinhart (the Ocean models) is not in the same league as a Longines. It's a nice enough copy watch and better than most but it is only a quality watch in the minds of people who can't afford a reputable make but for instance want to make people who should have gone to specsavers think they are wearing a Rolex...Steinhart are similar quality, but even cheaper. Not ALL Steinharts are Rolex lookalikes...I'll concede it won't be to everyone's taste, but at least it's unique

PS I had one of their black 'Subalikes', it was a nice enough watch, but it's overt Rolex-ness did bug me and I didn't keep it long. I wouldn't say it was as nice as my Longines HC though.

Having owned both too, I disagree. My Stainhart felt (even) better quality than my Longines. Albeit I had a Steinhart Marine model, not an Ocean model. I’d happily buy either brand again and rate them both.CaptainSlow said:
New model launched at Baselworld this year and slowly coming into AD stock.
Cleaner look and ceramic bezel.
I may pull the trigger on a blue 43mm as an alternative daily.
That's v nice. I was minded to buy the previous version but I didn't as put my money into a new Breitling, but may pull the pin on this if the local ad has any in. Anyone know what the availability is like? Cleaner look and ceramic bezel.
