A big fan of that sort of watch and your picture of it had me checking my local dealers stock! Will gave to wait for a bit but I like it a lot. Assume that the black/dark metal will hold its colour well? My much cheaper black ion strap watch looked good until the black started to wear off. I would imagine Breitlings keep fresh for aeons?!
Drab; looks good!
Well you've got plenty of time with the Alpnach but not with the Seawolf!Drab; looks good!
I didn't buy a Chrono Avenger 69 the first time I saw one and then spent 18 months trying to track one down!
The black finish is something that you have to be careful with if you don't want it to EVER get scratched etc
People go on about how tough the DLC is but I've seen a fair few used Super Avenger Black Steels and Skyland Blacksteels that are'that look well worn but they could have had owners like my Dad who has an Emergency Mission that he wears no matter what he's doing!
A rather impulsive eBay purchase, but I'm very pleased with this 70s Sicura.
Now fitted to a lovely Condor Carbon strap from ukwatchstrap.co.uk which really works well with the blue dial, I think.
Sometimes rather unscrupulously sold as 'Breitling', Sicura bought Breitling from Herr Breitling in the 70s and rescued the brand.
Sicura itself was a much more mainstream watch maker, making day to day watches and this is a lowly 17 jewel model (there are higher spec ones), but the look captivated me and the conditon is remarkable.
I've not been able to find any photos of others that look quite like this one.

PS Nice Tissot. They're a lot of watch for your money, I always think.

I've been wanting a weekend/beater replacement for a while. For years I've worn my way through various Polar Heartrate monitors.
But I wanted something a little more 'watch-like'. Something that I hope will be reasonably hardwearing and be able to take knocks and scrapes and over the years become nicely battered - but not cost me the earth.
So I went for a Steinhart. The Ocean Vintage Military. And have ordered a Isofrane black rubber strap to put it on.
Watch should arrive middle/end of March.
So, pics when it arrives.

I'm considering a Steinhart Ocean One with the green bezel at the moment, and I'm on the lookout for a suitable NATO.

No worries, will do.I'm considering a Steinhart Ocean One with the green bezel at the moment, and I'm on the lookout for a suitable NATO.
I recently had 5 or 6 natos for my sub from here:
http://www.rltwatches.co.uk/
good service and good products.
When this guy gets his new site up and running i'm going to get one of his 'ultimate' (or whatever it is called) natos - depending on price might get on for sub and one for stein hart:

So, picked up my first 'proper' watch yesterday after much consideration. I wanted something that looked classic, had a reasonable movement, didn't cost absolutely silly money and wasn't hugely look at me, so ended up going for a Bell & Ross Vintage 126. It's got an ETA 2894 movement that's been lightly modified to remove the 6 O'Clock complication on the Chrono.
Really loving it at the moment, and very happy with the overall quality. I know that some may turn their nose up at them since effectively they're a young brand and very 'fashion' orientated, but I really couldn't find much else I really wanted other than the Tag Carerra Space X (but at £4.5k it was 'a bit' pricey!).

nice piece and as you say a fairly classic aviator style and not too 'look at me'. makes a change from some of the other possibly more obvious entry brands. enjoy it mate.Really loving it at the moment, and very happy with the overall quality. Yeah...well I had a Seiko Kinetic Auto Relay for about 15 years which did it's job well (but unspectacularly!) with a metal bracelet and reasonably small face, but it packed up recently and I've lusted after a large faced aviator style chrono for a long while! Unsurprisingly I keep 'checking the time' at the moment.I do need to get myself a cheapish bashable watch now though.....eying up a Seiko 5 at the moment :P
