Super watch.
Thanks & I agree. I have always aspired to own a modern JLC and the Master Hometime was right at the top of the 'achievable' list, albeit I thought it would be another few years away yet. The JLC Tourbillion is at the very top of the 'probably non-achievable' list but hopefully one day. I was actually looking for a Speedy but I got an unexpected Bonus from work and then one night browsing the classifieds on TZ I came across this beauty at what I consider an excellent price. Thank god for the sales corner being so slow at the moment, no doubt mostly down to the time of the year. I did have to flip my Tudor Chronograph to keep the missus happy but It was a very easy decision to make.
The Hometime will hopefully tide me over for many years to come. 27th December couldn't come quick enough.
Got a cheap Seiko 5 SNK809 on the way. Planning either a NATO or simple leather passthrough for it.
Just contemplating the final details on a custom strap order for my Aristo flieger.
And finally, the missus caved and ordered my birthday present early, although it won't arrive until April

Ordered a Steinhart Ocean Two Blue before crimbo so should be here any day now.
Already thinking about moving it on though!
I always seem to buy watches in the £4-600 bracket, as I feel I can't really justify spending more, but then wish I'd got something a bit more special. Thinking about thinning out the herd a bit, and buying what I really want!

Perhaps it's a case of the excitement/thrill of the pre-acquisition researching that does it for you – more than the watch itself, irrespective of the amount being spent.
If you can identify that as being the case, then spending more money on a single watch won't change things.
Maybe you should give the Ocean Two a chance, as well as look hard at the collection and see if it does need a bit of a cull, keeping or selling the Steinhart irrespectively.

I would agree with this - a new watch of whatever value is nice but its getting something which is different to what you normally have or just admire is the best part - the cost makes no difference to the enjoyment for me now.If you can identify that as being the case, then spending more money on a single watch won't change things.

one of my fav is a Seiko 5 -
Don't get me wrong, it's not a snobbish thing. I've got lots of lower priced/unknown brand watches that I really like, Magrette/Stowa/Seiko, etc. I'm also eying up those Obris Morgan divers, and an MHD that is based on a Seiko, so it's not that I'm only after 'big' pieces.
It's just that with a young family it feels incredibly selfish to drop a couple of grand on a watch, so I end up buying a series of mid-price watches instead, and over the course of a couple of years find that I've spent what I felt I couldn't justify in the 1st place, and yet still don't have the watch I was really craving!

I think that's part of it though, and tbh I'm desperately trying to avoid it. Hoping the unusual factor of the PVD Aevig Corvid will scratch the itch for a black field watch, and the Seiko will scratch the itch for an automatic I'm happy to wear regularly (I baby the Aristo, despite it not being a high end watch)
Been through this with guitars before. Could never justify the Lakewood I really wanted. It's part of the hobby for many people. Managed to shake it with guitars, sold everything and bought one midrange guitar that I now love. Staying away from watch forums would probably help me...

Might have this incoming later in the year, if they get the project off the ground:
