Nothing amazing compared to most here but at £785 this seemed a bit of a bargain so got it ordered as I have always fancied one 🙂

Nice enough Greggy, got a couple myself. One of them is even a quartz (back in the day when i knew nothing...not that I know that much now!!)

Think the Raymond brand is somewhat underrated myself.

Get a bit bored of looking at the Rolo's on here anyway! Sorry chaps

I keep looking at the Rose Gold Yachtmaster, but will never spend that much on one.
For me I would always cop out and buy a 'classic' colour, oh, and probably a Tudor as more my budget!

But fancied something Rose Gold and Black so bought this Seiko, got say, quite impressed by the quality (although not the strap, comfortable, but the buckle!!??).

Quite like that, in a "looks like a gloss Pelagos" kinda way. What's the list on that if you don't mind me asking? Not a lot of info out there.

List is currently a gnat's shy of £1800 plus VAT direct from Monta in the U.S. or you can buy from the sole Monta AD in the U.K. for £1950. When the watch was first launched it was around £2500 IIRC, they then had a swift "price adjustment" at the same time as they decided to sell direct instead of just through ADs. I actually thought that they'd dropped all of their ADs though a quick scan of their website says otherwise. Mine is a 10 month old bought for £1k.

The guys behind Monta started Everest watch bands, so they have a good pedigree.

I'm certainly hoping that it turns out to be a good purchase! I was happy with the price so I thought "why not?"

It's always a bit of a gamble buying watches that I've never even seen in the metal let alone tried on however I'm pretty much used to it now, most of my collection have been bought that way. It's also a bit of a gamble trying out a new brand in the market however the reviews do it great favours, it looks the part IMO and it fills my requirement for a 40mm cased 20mm lugged polished/brushed smart sports watch.

Happy days smile

Never really been a Rolex fanboi (it's Sub and GMT city around here) but there is something about the Harry Potter watch so have found room for this - shamelessly pinched pics of actual watch off the vendor's website but it's locked down for grabbing full size images. Might try for a wrist shot tomorrow if the sun appears.

Got this yesterday and i can sum it up in two words

Grail obtained woohoo
TOO LARGE!

?? I hope that you grow into it, like a new school blazer bought in September...
My grail watch too, in that same combination! Next year....
Did you go with a deployment clasp? How does it feel on the wrist?

It does look a little large, but such a beautiful watch - Congrats!
Thanks. Firstly with regards to the size, for whatever reason the picture i took makes it look like it wears much larger than it actually does. It's at the top end size wise for sure, but doesn't look out of place.

One thing I've noticed is that the blue numerals and strap can look black in various light conditions.

Yes, it has a deployment clasp. It's what i would consider to be the most basic type, which folds over in thirds and you push to clip it down and pull it to release. I have other much cheaper watches that use push-button clasps and so on that seem more thoroughly engineered.

It's a very comfortable watch to wear. It's not heavy and just seemed right straight out of the box. The chronograph is a useful complication; the pushers for it take far more shove to engage than they have on quartz chrono's I've owned. Watching the hands instantly jump back into line when you reset it still keeps me amused. Not exactly as exotic as an A. Lange Double Split (which if you haven't seen, watch here from around 3:30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP6xiNeFQ-w&t=... but still fun.

It makes me happy every time i put it on and i couldn't recommend it enough. I hope you get one, you won't regret it smile

Santa was very kind. This is the miracle no-date sub that materialised from WoS about a week after being told by everywhere I tried that it would be a 12-24 month wait. Festive fireplace in the background...

I've heard several of these stories now... is the waiting list just a hype to get everybody to "write their name down" and then be very happy that, by miracle, they get it two years before they were expecting it?

It does certainly make you wonder! Although I was offered nearly £2k over list for mine in the week before xmas from a jeweller we know that had someone desperately after one as a last minute gift. All the second hand ones are also trading for overs so there must be a little bit of truth behind it - at least it keeps the residuals strong for owners.
