Nice! Are you pleased with it? It's about the only SS sports model I'm not on the waiting list for and I don't really know why as I really like the colour green in general. I think I need to try one on as it always looks a bit bright to me in photos.

Well my Richard Legrand Odyssey MK2 arrived today , ordered on the pre-order back in August , think it cost around £260 all in ie $239 plus shipping and then £43 vat and "admin fees" an awful lot for the money. You get a sapphire crystal, NH35 movement , ceramic dial , decent bracelet with machined clasp, box within a box , rubber and nato straps plus spare pins and strap tool

Pretty chuffed, the ceramic dial will look great in the sun

That looks really nice. I’ve got a similar deal on the way: Deep Blue NATO Diver 300. NH36 movement, sapphire crystal, and so on. Really good price, and as a prettier, arguably ‘better’ version it’ll free up my SKX009 for modding to get rid of its flaws.

Anyway, what I did buy! Casio Gshock GX-56 BB- "THE KING"

Lovely, and a nice iteration of the Polerouter dial.

It's beautiful-the dial is just stunning. The case lugs is debatable but I like that it's different, there aren't many questions however where the answer is a bright green rolex.

Congratulations... lovely. Will you keep it? A watch for life?

Does this model feature the micro rotor?

Having never bought a watch for more than £50, and having no idea what I was doing, I have treated myself to one of these:

It took me 24 hours to build up the courage to peel off the plastic etc.

Funnily enough I’ve never fancied myself a watch guy, but I find myself getting drawn into it. Some really interesting stuff out there which I’ve never looked closely enough to notice. I now have a wish list longer than I’d ever be able to fulfill.

That was my first significant watch purchase too. A classic, an absolute icon, and if you'd asked advice on what watch to buy with your budget on here, I bet that would have been the clear winner.

Nice to see it make an appearance in "First Man"...

Mines currently away for servicing and I can't wait to get it back.

Congratulations on a wonderful watch. And welcome to the slippery slope!

Picked up a Rolex 126660 Deep Sea / James Cameron.

The improvements over the last one now makes it the ultimate dive reference.

What a fantastic choice indeed. I am fortunate enough to own a few watches that are more expensive or more exclusive (or both!) than the humble Speedy, but it's a watch I keep returning to and I wear a lot.

It's just a really good bit of design and engineering I guess, and that is worth far more than what it costs or how many are produced.

Timeless, understated, historic, classy, practical, classic and elegant. What more could you want?

One of the few designs where its easy to read, just looks 'right' and is equally at home with a suit or overalls.
