Having never bought a watch for more than £50, and having no idea what I was doing, I have treated myself to one of these:
It took me 24 hours to build up the courage to peel off the plastic etc.
Funnily enough I’ve never fancied myself a watch guy, but I find myself getting drawn into it. Some really interesting stuff out there which I’ve never looked closely enough to notice. I now have a wish list longer than I’d ever be able to fulfill.
What a fantastic choice indeed. I am fortunate enough to own a few watches that are more expensive or more exclusive (or both!) than the humble Speedy, but it's a watch I keep returning to and I wear a lot.It took me 24 hours to build up the courage to peel off the plastic etc.

It's just a really good bit of design and engineering I guess, and that is worth far more than what it costs or how many are produced.
One of the few designs where its easy to read, just looks 'right' and is equally at home with a suit or overalls.

It's a funny thing, taste. I nearly bought a Speedy 'because everyone should have one', and I like to think I have a closer connection to the whole Moon Watch thing than most, but when I came to try one, I found it both fussy and boring at the same time.
That's fair. I bought mine for a similar reason, 'because every collection needs one' and I have to admit that at first I thought I may have wasted my money. Still, the more I've worn it and the more I've looked at it the more I've liked it. It's a real grower, I love it now and was very 'meh' about it in the beginning. You may not be like that, it might just not be your thing! But definitely, for me, it took time to appreciate it.
So, got a job lot of 7 incoming, the most interesting of which are this Hanowa Swiss Military chronograph and Casio Edifice:
The other 5 will get cleaned up and sold on, should net a nice little profit and if I ‘bond’ with these two then they’ll be added to the fleet.
The whole lot was €70, which is what a Hanowa alone typically goes for.

I have just sold my Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chronograph automatic to Watchfinder and I'm replacing it with.....
A mighty Seiko quartz Chronograph!
That’s looks great. I’m imagining the price differential to the Aquaracer is quite large but personally I prefer the Seiko. A mighty Seiko quartz Chronograph!
There are quite a few Seikos that I’ve been tempted by recently, including some of the GS models that have been posted on this forum.
I need to make sure I don’t go anywhere near a shop that stocks them or else I could find myself in trouble with Mrs lauda.
Yeah I got roughly what I paid for the Aquaracer, I have no particular affinity to Tag Heuer but it did what I needed it to do, but needs must. I time a lot of things when cooking! Next on the list in future is an Omega Seamaster Chronograph (the older 'wave dial' version).
But for now the Seiko will do the job, I paid the grand sum of £107 from Creation watches for this one, which is outstanding value and a great looking watch.

Watch update........there's a chance the thing I worked so hard for might not turn out to be the real deal.I put it away for my birthday last thurs for my 50th.
To me.
Hope you like it.
From Me.
Today I took it in the a Hublot Boutique to order another clasp as it came with a spare strap but no clasp for that.
That's 457 pounds Sir I'll just need to check your serial number on the portal to enable me to order it............unfortunately there is no record of this number there's a chance it's not legit.
I'll leave it there for the time being. Watch this space! See what I did there.........
I'm keeping upbeat because the shop where I got it from know I'm all over it and are fully aware how things will turn out.

Are these that easy to fake then? I mean, there must be other ways to verify legitimacy other than a serial number check?I put it away for my birthday last thurs for my 50th.

I prefer that so much compared to the Rolex GMT “equivalent”. I think the newer ceramic bezels (on any watch, not just a Rolex) look awful and way too blingy.I really like that though LA, nice not to have the PCLs.

Picked this up yesterday. I really like it, I can't wait to get it onto the Tudor red stripe NATO strap.

Thanks guys, I really like it. I have a 1991 GMT Master II Pepsi on the horizon too, I have an interest to see how it compares to this.
