Must admit however, when I first saw it I thought "that's a bit of T6 vanman that"!
If the star's align, I may be in the market for a £1~£2k prezzy for myself next year,
Quick shufty at Jura and at sub £1k ... whilst strong for a quartz, being 'uniquely' oil filled it sounds great for this watch,
The strap issue is easily (black leather like the Bronze or dark nato or rubber) sorted
I'm not sure but as it doesn't have a bezel it's going to wear 'larger' that its size so 38 would be a great discrete size
I'm liking the 44 in black with red writing on the rubber strap
I just know that air bubble would drive me crazy ... I couldn't wear a spirit level on my wrist all day .... And that's saying something if I'm critiquing it
The bubble would actually appeal to my OCD'ness as I'd be able to influence it-it only goes where you make it if that makes sense? While it's strong money for a quartz, there's nothing wrong with quartz although you're really only going to be able to get U Boat to service or work on it aren't you?
How much do they charge for service or what is the warranty?
I reckon you'll get one massively under rrp in a January sale somewhere or something new marked as "unworn" on C24 in a month or two.

I do think you have one of the most genuinely unique collections on here

Why thank you .... I like to think I have a watch for every occasion / they say variety is the spice ... yada yada etc ..... you're really only going to be able to get U Boat to service or work on it aren't you?

I'm just trying to imagine the look on the face of the yoof in Timpsons when you present it for a battery change
Yes ... I think they'd be a killer bargain in the sales ..... unfortunately the bubble makes it a no from me ... but if I could live with the bubble & didn't have a surfeit of watches So don't let us talk you out of it your Lordship

I will take a look in the Jan sales I think, as you have said above and see if there is a deal to be had, on a rubber / textile strap I think it’d look quite good. I may even have a look at the 44 as I do like the rather garish red / black!
Could the air bubble have something to do with temperature, coefficient of expansion? Although I’d have thought it’d be irrelevant in such a small volume

I'd say the bubble is there for the reason you suggest? I like the black/red one also.Could the air bubble have something to do with temperature, coefficient of expansion? Although I’d have thought it’d be irrelevant in such a small volume
There are reasons for liquid filled gauges and instruments, in a harsh environment, heat and vibration, usually industrial. I can't see any of these reasons being valid in a wristwatch. I suspect it's oil filled for gimmicky marketing reasons more than anything.
Just realised it's quartz, so no mechanical reason, and reading the blurb it seems to be there for aesthetics, to magnify and make rainbow colours.

I'd have expected the oil to carry too much mechanical resistance for an automatic movement.Just realised it's quartz, so no mechanical reason, and reading the blurb it seems to be there for aesthetics, to magnify and make rainbow colours.

Sin make some lovely oil filled divers watches - believe the main reason is readability but also pressure resistance. They also manage to fill the case completely.
Just had a look...https://www.sinn.de/en/HYDRO.htm
No reflective glare underwater but I suspected, has to be Quartz too.

This hits the nail on the head. Filling without a bubble is difficult and they appear to be trying to make a feature of this shortcoming.
