Stowa has landed in the UK, due to be delivered on Tuesday but not before FedEx have issued me a customs fee of £205!!
How do they justify that? I knew that some carriers were taking the piss on fees but that's ridiculous. On top of the import vat it's going to be a lot of money.21st Century Man said:

Is it fees though? Or just the vat? In which case so what? I have read of FedEx fees being dropped to a maximum of £17 when challenged.
Hmm I think it includes VAT as well because when I ordered the watch the Stowa website showed the price total as just over 1300 Euros which stated inc VAT with my customisations added. At checkout the price I paid was 1100 Euros with no mention of VAT in the receipt so I guess that FedEx fee makes sense although they don't break down what is what:Looking at that, 20p import duty, but £192.99 tax! Their admin fee is only £12 though which is reasonable I guess.
I think it all adds up given that I wasn't charged VAT by Stowa at checkout.
I should add that since Feb I have bought Bike parts and watches from both Germany and France and had no VAT or import duty to pay so I'm not too bummed by this latest FedEx fee really all things considered.

It's vat, which is fair enough.

It seems to be a lottery as to what gets picked up by HMRC. I've made about a dozen purchases and have avoided duty/vat/fees on most of it, although I was liable for it because the local vat had been removed by the seller, so I was expecting it and would have paid it. I've saved a small fortune so far on post Brexit purchases from the EU.Greendubber said:

Anyone else notice how the bezel grip on Tudor mirrors the grip on a Rolex case back?
It seems a nice reference / touch. Lovely watches, and that GMT is particularly nice.
That's a good observation, I don't think I've twigged on that before and yes, I agree, it's a really nice watch - especially on that strap. It seems a nice reference / touch. Lovely watches, and that GMT is particularly nice.

Hope to add a few other watches in the meantime as I wean myself off my car habit...

Wow! That's a real bummer. Had a £70 fee on my meteor faced Signum from Japan last month which pissed me off a bit, but £205 would really bum me out. Brexit eh? What Stowa did you go for?

Loving the Tudor stuff.
I sold my GMT, in hindsight I should have bought a leather strap for it, works wonderfully on leather.
Love that 41mm Black Bay too, I have a 41mm Datejust on oyster with plain bezel and blue dial, but think I prefer the Black Bay.
I bought this yesterday, but may have to have a look at the 41 Black Bays now.
Have to say, I really like the depth of the BB58, but 41mm with the same depth would be perfection for me. I like the 39mm and had a DJ36 for a while recently, and liked that, but just think 41mm with a 12mm depth would be spot on.

Only insofar as I have five, which is too many, and two are not ULEZ compliant and doubtless will be completely regulated out of London soon enough. I think one sports car and one EV is the plan henceforth. Means I have to get rid of a CLS63, a W124 E320 droptop this year. The Saab stays as it is my Mum's, really, she has had it from almost new, and I want my kids to have it one day.
Rather than roll those funds into a truly expensive car, which will rarely get used, I think I shall use it on watches.
Or hell, maybe an Ariel Nomad.
Nice problems to have, and I am lucky, so I am not going to whinge too much.
