Not having a ready £12k for a barakuda, opted for the well made £140 steeldive replica

Compared to current 6200 replica, a bit meatier

I like it, new favourite

That's lovely, I was also bidding on that but forgot to set a reminder when the auction was ending! Hope you enjoy it... lovely piece.

I think it could be a future classic that one...

Theo also designed a watch with Roger Smith (of George Daniels fame) which is now in the £500k range - only made 3 of them.

Thanks NDA and its good to feel like I've bought reasonably well. I like the look of it and always wanted a FM.

Austin3000 At one stage I thought that I had got it for £2.5k then with only minutes to go someone else started bidding and drove it to £3.1k plus the £600. Glad I stuck with it.

I really like that FM remain independent of the big players that have hoovered up other makers, and that FM himself is something of an enfant terrible for the Swiss industry. That their dial work is exquisitely done is a bonus… I also think that’s a great bag

Nothing incoming but was invited by Rolex to their London HQ for lunch to view the new 2022 collection.

Some interesting pieces that you’ll have seen online

The platinum models are incredibly weighty and beautiful in the flesh

The new greed / black GMT is cool as is the new Yacht-master

But star for me were the new flower dial ladies and the new dials on Datejust

Very nice. I've fancied an Atmos for a while but don't have anywhere to put one.
Same.

I hear they're fiddly to get set up - but that wouldn't put me off. Might get one though!
Scuse the late reply. They aren’t at all fiddly IMHO. They need to be on something solid. They need to be level (mine has a spirit level in the base to help with that), you take the pendulum brake off, give it (the pendulum) a nudge and it’s off.

Only thing to remember is not to jiggle it about without putting the brake back on. Cleaning lady that means you….

It's a beautiful thing. Really pleased with it!
Just beautiful and a hell of a conversation piece. Absolutely wonderful.

Was just reading yesterday about an Atmos clock with a solar calendar. Shows the moon and earth in orbit around the sun. Limited edition of ten…!

Just bought a couple of Date Justs.

First one a 2008 Turn-o-graph with white gold bezel.

The second a 2006 Roman blue dial.

I appreciate that they are technically a bit similar, but there is enough difference between the two to make them, in my eyes, two different watches. Also, while listed at very good prices, buying them both was a good bargaining tool. smile
Both lovely, and different I agree.

I’ve got a thing for a fluted bezel Datejust after trying this on

I somehow managed to delete my post!

Hope you don't mind me disagreeing with you, but I actually prefer the rounded bezel! Not saying the fluted is ugly, but I think the rounded bezel makes for a more modern, smoother looking watch, less 1970's.

After a rather cheeky offer I have this incoming. Hopefully with me this week smile

Edit: poor quality screenshot but it’s a Baume et Mercier Clifton Baumatic.

I saw a few rolex liveried horse and carts with guests last week near st James. Was this the same event?

Seemed a bit ott, spotted a few full rose and yellow gold watches on guests both male and female which felt a bit risky.
