Sharing it around with whom? A watch manufacturer in Switzerland that turns over several billion dollars per year, but doesn't pay any tax because it's owned by "A charity" ?
Philanthropy, eh.
fkin hell pal, you're coming across like a full on bellend!!Philanthropy, eh.
Question - Why are you even on the Watch forum? You never contribute with anything apart from silly comments about those who spent a bit on their watch. You don't contribute about your watch (actually you're on a car forum and you don't talk about cars either but that's another conversation), you don't say anything nice about anyones watch or add anything.
Whats interesting is that you call those who buy expensive watches pathetic and snobby. If you actually used this forum you would see a lot of cross brand appreciation and respect of others - no one heres owns a nice watch and then goes on the 50 quid thread and rips people. In fact the only person being derogatory is you.
So - I ask again, why are you even on the watch forum?
To be fair to H22, Rolex neither pays tax nor says how much money it donates to good causes. It appears very secretive about the Wilsdorf Foundation and its charitable status. Where do the company's profits go?
When a company pays no tax, combined with being so secretive about it, the situation doesn't appear right.

Is it really our concern where a foreign manufacturer does or does not pay tax in their country of origin? Pretty sure the chap who supplied mine in the UK paid UK tax on earnings from my ale. When a company pays no tax, combined with being so secretive about it, the situation doesn't appear right.
Do we go around not listening to bands who are technically based elsewhere for tax purposes, not shop with retailers who offshore debt or not watch films who benefit from tax schemes?..

Can't be bothered to read it even. Clearly a £50 quartz keep perfectly good time. Clearly M&S shoes are perfectly ok for walking in and a Mondeo is a fine car for getting around in. Clearly ladies don't desire diamonds because a piece of costume jewellery looks just as good. Clearly the journalist was asked to knock-up a controversial piece as a space filler in 10-15 mins.
Totally understand and agree with the above. and to add to the comments in my normal subtle style Jesus I go on a cruise for 2 weeks and it all kicks off...........i had a fking huge cabin which I didn't need ( the cost of which even I am embarrassed to admit to), and was a waste of money .......i have just checked my bar bill and I drank 8 bottles of Veuve C and 4 bottles of Amarone which I didn't need .....and i purchased my wife a £1200 handbag in Venice to add to the other 20 handbags she has......i own a Patek, 2 Vacherons, 2 JLC, and I think there might be a Rolex at the bottom of my sock drawer. I drove to work in my Aston this morning because my wife fancied using my Merc SL as it's a nice day
Am I stupid.....almost certainly ........i love being stupid
and before any left wing Guardian reading social workers tell me that my comments are arrogant, yep...... I already know I'm an arrogant dick
ps it was a loverly holiday

well actually I do own a share of it .....as do all Carnival PLC shareholders ........and just to be clear, I wasn't trying to impress anybody, I was just commenting on the stupidity of the article in my own vulgar way wishing everybody a great weekend whatever type of watch you wear (unless it's a TAG)

i clicked on this thread because it had an eye-catching title. After reading some of the angry & amusing responses, i thought i'd stick up for the person who wrote the article in the Telegraph.
As expected, the angry contributors didn't like the fact that i have invaded 'their' thread. Bless.

What views about the watch industry did H22 express? He highlighted that Rolex doesn't pay tax, which is probably true because of its charitable status. (Before someone gets pedantic, it's the charitable status of the Wilsdorf Foundation.)
All H22 has done is to convey the sentiments of many non-WIS. His only crime is to have done so on a forum for horological enthusiasts!

I'll not trawl his comments however the entire subject matter of the original article and that which followed concerned the value -v- marketing / why care about horological and technical feats when a Casio will do? Tripe, IMO. All H22 has done is to convey the sentiments of many non-WIS. His only crime is to have done so on a forum for horological enthusiasts!
Is that not about the watch industry? Not sure of the point of your post either.
