Where to buy diamond earrings?
Discussion
I'm after a pair of diamond earrings for SWMBO. Something simple like a 18ct white gold claw with brilliant or princess cut diamonds - 0.3 - 0.5 ct total.
Can get some nice ones from the usual high street suspects (Goldsmiths, Ernest Jones etc) but keep reading very poor reviews of these outlets.
On the other hand - should I give much credence to these reviews? High value purchases, often linked to special occasions, are possibly likely to make people more passionate and inclined to shout if something is not quite right. The number of bad reviews compared to the amount of stuff they must shift is very low.
Minefield! Any ideas? Ta.

Why diamond? they have little value and are a price inflated. They aren't rare and imho a bit boring.
Depending on your budget and occasion id get something made or go to a craft and design market/centre
The one I go to is 'Manchester Craft & Design Centre' but I see your South West to that's not much help - http://www.craftanddesign.com/artists/

What makes the reviews bad? Surely once you own the earings that's it? Not like the turbos going to blow once you get them 2 miles down the road...
Various, but things like stones coming loose from settings and then poor after-sales service to remedy.(She once used nail polish remove to remove the sticky residue from the price tag on her sun glasses and proceeded to melt and scratch the plastic, que several hours of me polishing and buffing them back to normality before asking why she couldn't have used fairy liquid...)
Bluenile are pretty decent for diamond earrings, good prices too (normally a decent cashback deal to be had through quidco as well), http://www.bluenile.com/uk/
Theres a guy that uses this place Ecaine63 I think it is? Refurbs watches and builds jewellery. Ive never felt with him but seems a great guy!
I'm looking to ask a big question in the next 12 months and I'll be going to see him I think rather than using a "friend" 5 miles down the road. That should speak for itself
