21st Birthday Gift for Nephew - Which Automatic Watch?

My Nephew turns 21 next weekend.

Have been tasked to buy a watch for him to mark the occasion. Hopefully something that may kick start a long term interest in watches for him.



Criteria:
Budget must be no more than £200. No 'Man Maths' budget creep on this one.
Automatic Preferred
Steel or leather strap. No preference.


He is studying Chemistry at university, so a watch with a possible Scientific link would be a bonus.
He usually wears a black PVD Armani Quartz Chronograph of some sort at the moment.
Not much to write home about.

I would like to get a watch from a known watch manufacturer/brand...
A sort of 'proper' starter watch.


I have been through a few of the usual suspect websites (Jura/Goldsmiths/Beaverbrooks etc), but am struggling to find inspiration.

Thought I would ask for a little help on this one...

Hamilton Khaki Field £213 from Creation but a 38mm case which maybe a little small. The Khaki King breaks the budget but a nice watch for £232 again from Creation

If you could only push the budget a little bit higher a Steinhart/Tissot would be in the price range.

My dad bought me a Seiko 5 in about 1985 which lasted through my school and uni days. Still works and gains about 25 seconds a day. I might get it serviced in 20 years' time.

A pretty decent watch from 1994 at £220ish. With a polish the case would come up nicely.

And then I scroll to the bottom of the thread to hit reply and I realise that he OP has already bought. A Seiko or an Orient would be about the best choice at that budget. Hope he likes it!
