Gents,

I'm having trouble deciding so need some opinions here! Love both of them. Was after something a little special (my first Rolex after all) but can't help but feel the BLNR is way more common than the Explorer 2 and so looses its edge...

Anyway, would love to hear from folk who may have had experience of either/both.

Cheers,

Noman

Don't think either are at all common. Go with what one you like the best.

The BLNR, vested interest alert, is to my mind a smarter looking piece and looks right at work or at the weekend.

The fact that secondhand ones are at RRP or higher tends to suggest they're not that common.

I bought my BLNR early last year and wear it pretty much every day, whether that's with a suit or t-shirt. I'd go with the BLNR as it's so versatile

Thanks guys. That pic Alex L is stunning! How are the polished links bearing up? I prefer a matt finish look as scratches don't show up so easily.

Apart from the clasp the polished links are pretty much scratch free. Initially I wasn't keen on the polished centres compared to my Pepsi GMT2 but they've grown on me.

If you're not keen on the polished links, and to be honest I don't really notice them anymore, a chap I work with has had his brushed so the strap is now all matt. Not sure I'd bother personally, but it's an option.

Prince Harry wears the White face 42mm Explorer very well. I think it's a great looking watch, however, they are not very popular and do not well quickly on the second-hand market.

Get the BLNR, IMHO it's a nicer looking watch than the Explorer II. I am biased as my wife has has a BLNR for 18 months.

The clasp on mine is pretty messy after a few months. The rest of the bracelet is better but still a few scratches.

It bothers me slightly but when it gets bad enough I'll polish the worst out of the bracelet (but not clasp) with a cape cod cloth, and leave the rest for its first service when they'll return it as good as new.

I just KNOW that as soon as I buy a BLNR Rolex will launch a S/S RougeNoir!
