I picked it up last night and asked what the situation was with the box and papers - they said they were mine and they wouldn't ever keep them, apparently Rolex themselves are unimpressed at dealers doing this.
Rolex are 'unimpressed' with dealers handing over the items you've just bought and paid for? Really..? confused

Or have I read that the wrong way round and Rolex are unimpressed with dealers hanging on to them (surely no one buys a watch and then accepts not getting everything they've paid for do they)?
wrong way round - Rolex are unimpressed with dealers who are keeping boxes and papers from customers to stop them flipping the watch. I've seen posts on here and elsewhere suggesting this goes on at some AD's, the chap in WoS that I bought mine from acknowledged it happens too.

Given how important box and papers are to resale, you'd need to be insane to accept a new watch without these.

I can just imagine the scene two years later when you go to collect them at the dealer. Sorry mate, not got those, you should have taken them when you bought the watch. You bought it from Barry? Nah, he's not worked here for six months.

Must admit I'm not quite sure what's in it for the dealer either, beyond a row with the customer, the strong possibility of losing the sale and some ill will.

These watches are going for a silly premium now. Not that I'm upset about it as I own one but I'm never selling this as it will be going to my son.

Now the next silly watch to get hold off, the Hulk. Prices have gone stupidly silly. Luckily I own one of them too and don't plan on selling it biggrin

I've bypassed the BLNR as I don't really like it, but have started a list with my local AD in case a GMT 'Coke' comes up in Basel '18!
A steel coke or pepsi is never gonna happen. Rolex just love to tease us.
Coke will, just a matter of time. Agree about the Pepsi though...

Just to bring a sense of Batman proportion: There's a brand new, stickered BLNR GMT on tz-uk right now for £7,250 from a dealer. Talk of £8k+ is just for those with too much money...

Had a call from the local AD today after putting my name down in January telling me it was finally my turn - when I checked with them about 6 weeks ago I was No. 7 on the list, so I can only assume a few people dropped out when it turned up.

My first Rolex and I have to say I’m really pleased with it, and knowing I bought it at list kind of helps with the man maths (wife!). They had a black bezel GMT in the window if anyone’s after one!

Just scored a late 2016, mint full set watch for just over £7k.

Wish I'd kept the one I sold in 2015, but hey ho.

People getting fed the one year waiting list line and then one popping up magically after just a few weeks after an actual order has been placed does appear to be something of a theme... scratchchin

I had this three years ago with a no date sub, fed a twelve month waiting list line.
Less than a week later received a call from the dealer saying they had managed to jump the queue.

And reduced to £7,100 presumably as couldn't get £7,250 for it...

Now sold.

Rang the local AD to ask about the BLNR. 30 people on the waiting list so they have had to close it. They get 1 watch every 3 months.

I did mention that i have a Seadweller I am willing to part Ex and they did seem very interested in doing a deal. The least time i asked they offered me £2600 for it and that was only a couple of years ago., cheeky buggers.

I may pop in and try on the GMT and see how it fits.

I got one 6 weeks after putting my name down in goldsmiths. None of these watches are hard to get hold off except the new ceramic Daytona. The hulk and batman can be had easily. Loads of buyers selling them for a few hundred over list

Sad times but i might be selling my BLNR shortly

I got a ceramic daytona and as lovely as the BLNR is, i'm not wearing it anymore...

Will be an interesting experiment to see if i can sell for break even, which would essentially mean wearing a lovely watch for over a year for free.

That or i keep it as an "investment" for the long term...

but it's not I have friends on the BLNR list who have good reps with their dealers and 12 months on still no watch !
Most lists are closed on this watch again now.

as for "Loads of buyers selling them for a few hundred over list" where ? they are £6550 retail cheapest I can see is £7.2k private and £7.5k from a dealer.

not that I care I paid £4.5k I when they came out I picked up a UK one 2nd hand :-) right place right time I guess pre price rise also.

But if you want a new one now it seems ni on impossible atm

As for Daytona prices, I must be one of the few who likes the old one more, now the new one has been out a while it looks a bit chavy to me, the older one looks more classic. and £15k gets you a 2nd hand white gold one, so who is buying them at £15k ?

I've managed to get two of these now, so as above it will be interesting to see what I'll be offered for one. The idea of a free watch for a year or so sounds interesting!

12 months ago people could get them in 3 or 4 months months, but you cannot even get a basic SUB atm now some state 12 months !!

could be the new movement going into all the sports watch's so no production until then, but the markets as dry as it's ever been imo.

Watch finder and the likes are selling LV, Hulk and BNLR to the masses at well over £8 or £9k and stock is turning around.

I have no idea why my friends cannot get a BLNR even a year on, having bought 2 or 3 Normal Rolex from the dealer.

I bought one of the early ones at £5950, it was running slow and out of warranty, so I paid for a full service at over £500. Then you get a new warranty.

I have only worn it since it came back, not sure why. Would some one pay 7.5 k for it? You only know when you got to sell I guess. The retail price keeps increasing and I suspect the same will happen with these as to what happened with the green submariners, the day they stopped making them they rocketed.

One thing is for sure, it will never be worth less than what it stands me in at.
