Friend of mine picked a a SS GMT in late November last year from a midlands AD, he then put his name down for a BLNR, just got the call it has arrived.
He has been told though that they will photo copy the warranty card and withhold it for 12 months.
This does not worry him as he has no intention of moving it on.
It's always a friend isn't it?He has been told though that they will photo copy the warranty card and withhold it for 12 months.

And should this AD close down, go out of business, burn down, mislay those guarantee papers? Strange that I bought two sports models in the last 6 months and neither had this applied to them
Its funny because i collected my SD43 this week that I placed after I ordered a CD, still have not received the Daytona as of yet!!

The problem is that Rolex allow their ADs to make their own rules. And should this AD close down, go out of business, burn down, mislay those guarantee papers? Strange that I bought two sports models in the last 6 months and neither had this applied to them
There are 3 Rolex ADs within reasonable distance (50 miles) of me. Each run their waiting list in a different way. One of them it's strictly first-come, first served and you have a specific position on the list (I was #21 when I was added - they only get 3 per year so in theory it's a 7yr wait). They also hold your warranty for 6 months - you don't agree, fine, don't buy it. Is it legal? I'm not convinced it is, but then the answer is, don't buy it then - which doesn't help if you do actually want the watch.
At the other AD that is over the road from them, they don't tell you where you are on the list and they give repeat customers preferential treatment, but they get 4 per year and told me I'd probably only realistically need to wait a year; they call round and you need to say Yes and pay up within 24hr or they call the next person, so they rack through their list quickly.
The other AD is kind of a mix between the two - they tell you where you are on the list but they more sneakily don't stick to it and they bump people up and down and will even sell a watch if you time a visit right (someone I know walked in and they'd been calling people on the Hulk waiting list, the guy asked for it was able to pay there and then so they just gave it to him instead).
Ultimately the problem is that, in UK at least, they don't permit deposits. If you had to pay half up front in order to join a waiting list, you wouldn't have people joining multiple waiting lists and you wouldn't have all the time-wasters, and you'd have much less speculators also. Demand would drop to being much more in line with supply, resale values would be more sensible, and all would be better in the world.
But it would potentially hurt Rolex - they like the over-the-top demand. They like that resale value is high, because then it makes people more inclined to buy (what else can you be unsure about, but buy and wear for a year and if you decide you don't like, sell it and make a profit?).

A steel coke or pepsi is never gonna happen. Rolex just love to tease us.
They weren't teasing... they just genuinely found it hugely difficult to get 2 colours together! Was surprised they didn't go Coke bezel first, since they had the ability to do that already, but now they've done both Pepsi and a new Root Beer, all bets are off.don logan said:

So what could I expect for one of the first BLNR's just back from a Rolex service so it is like brand new. Plus the service is warrantied.
In competition with the other 256 examples (some have been modified, so not all 256 are standard), currently being advertised on Chrono24, who knows!Best way to find out what it’s worth is to sell it on one of the popular auction sites and see what it eventually goes for.
Do let us know.

I have so far been offered £6,500 for a trade bid. I paid £5950, plus just under £500 for a service so not exactly getting rich there!
I think that’s the thing though...I treat my watches as a replacement for my old air cooled Porsche hobby (seeing as I’m priced out of the market these days!). It helps that a mate owns a Rolex grey market dealership.
I almost did a deal on a BLNR this weekend, I was happy at £6750 as my mate could sell it at £7750 and we’d make £500 each after I’d worn it for six months or so. If prices took a dive and I didn’t make anything I’ve owned a nice watch for a while.
I don’t expect to make a fortune but if all bills are covered by some canny buying and I scrape the odd profit then I’m quite happy enough and it’s a harmless hobby.
I just wish it was as easy letting go of them!

Must do something about it though!
The other thing is that because it’s so hard to get steel Rolexed at list it’s made me clam up and not consider letting anything steel and Rolex go!
