Watchfinder now showing 9x BLNR without prices. Something afoot?
Somebody on TRF reported that Watchfinder bid them £8800 in January for a 2018 BLNR and then £11-£11.5k for the same watch last week.
Well here's our answer. One of the 9 watches has been priced on WF this morning. A 2015 for nearly £14k...

Happy Days for those who already own one then
Jesus H

That's nearly double what I paid for mine 2 years ago eek

Still wearing it though biggrin

Thank you for your informed post on the definition.

Most useful.

[/Sarcasm]

To put it more plainly.
It's a watch that has a manufacturer sale price of far less than the overinflated used price.
That used price is a result of a shortage driven by perceived desirability coupled with deliberate manufacturing restrictions and flippers looking to make a quick buck.

At the end of the day that makes it overpriced for what it is (the value is unrealistacally inflated). It's a bubble waiting to burst as soon as 'the next best thing'/more 'desirable' watch comes along. As already noted elsewhere the younger generation are more interested in Smartwatches than luxury watches so there is an inherent driver for the bubble collapsing right there.

You can therefore either play the game Rolex/ADs and flippers are playing or buy something that is actually more worthy of the price asked (and more exclusive given Rolex are one of the biggest luxury watch producers).

Well, your post was about as useful as a fart in a tent, wasn't it.

Just because you think there are "far nicer" watches out there, doesn't mean it's gospel or fact. That's the beauty of subjectivity, despite your thoughts there is still huge demand for these and people paying what they are...

You can buy something which is mass produced and over priced or something which is more individual and far more worthy of the price tag (and a Steinhart or one of dozens similar if you want the Rolex style - everyone will think it's a fake anyway so may as well buy a Steinhart).

I know where my money won't be going.

Congratulations. A thread discussing a specific watch you have no intention of buying, obviously isn’t for you then. rolleyes

I'm not the only one to have said as much.

You really would have to be insane.

Just had an estimate back from Watchfinder on the price of mine and depending on condition they are offering £7500 - £8500, mines also a 2015 BLNR. Thats some mark up!!

Did anyone seriously think they would be offering anything like what they are asking to sell one for?! rofl

They are simply chancing the market, they understand that with their web traffic they can have a chance of driving the market and are trying it on.

248 for sale on Chrono24 realistic price seems to be around £10k, i had little respect for watch finder and this has just obliterated that.

The entire thing is bonkers. I wonder how much the new GMT in red/blue with a jubilee strap are changing hands for.

Interesting that Richemont are helping Rolex with their marketing via WF.

That's what people said when they were £8-10k. Yet still they rise. The same could be said about Ceramic Daytonas which have been quietly rising to touching £20k money.

I was one of the very lucky ones who managed to get a Batman new and at list (£6500) in late 2017. What these price rises do however is make me more cautious about wearing it and enjoying it, as I could wipe value off it very easily with just the smallest of marks/incidents/accidents.

I certainly didn't buy it as in investment, but at the same time I am not rich enough to simply throw away nearly 100% profit. It's a bit of a rock and a hard place to be honest, but there's worse situations to be in I suppose.
After the first few scratches I got over marking mine. I’m a little concerned over one scratch which is more like a gouge but the rest will be removed when it goes in for a service.

The other consideration is theft, I’m starting to get a little more concerned about where I wear it knowing that insurance will only cover the RRP. Hasn’t stopped me taking it on holiday but I have thought about it. The blue looks too good in the sun!

Might be worth asking for a new estimate now the new pricing is live?

A chap on TZ-UK was offered 8500 for his on Chronext a couple of weeks back, which was obviously pre-discontinuation so still worth holding on to.

...however.

If you look at the list of "Presale watches" on WF's site you'll find at least 4 Batman watches that are going through the inspection process. I suspect they have been inundated with people offloading theirs post-Basel for a quick buck, so a bit oversupplied at the moment. That and it's likely that since the December rumour of discontinuation, dealers have been silently buying them up so probably have a few tucked away, waiting for the market to settle on a value.

I'll be considering my options for the next month or so and decide whether to hang on to mine. Hard to beleve that flogging that, and maybe something else, puts me in line to buy a VC Overseas Gen 3!

WG pulled their entire stock (7 were showing) from their website the afternoon before Basel. All their watches went to "presale" status (9 were showing), so IMO they are one in the same watches.

If I were a betting man I would say they are now drip feeding them out slowly, testing the water at the higher prices to see what the responses is.

They've done it before as well when the 116600 sea dweller was discontinued, the 2015 BLNR posted earlier has gone (sold I guess) and they have now put back the 2018 they had for sale before Basel up for £13950 IIRC it was 11k before.
