The ethos was simply to make myself something that I really liked, and then to cross my fingers that a few other people would like it enough to buy one before my wife found out how much it'd cost to do!Lorne said:

Real-world option? I keep looking at this:

I really love the ethos behind it and I'm sure I'll own one at some point.

Women in general, and of course specifically any woman you've been married to for 25 years, know exactly what you're up to within 5 minutes of you starting on it.
It doesn't help when the auction house phones up and says 'The car that you and NDA have just bought together - they want to know who to deliver it to'. Bastids.NDA said:

Busy man ....... Busy watch!!
Yes quite. It is also a classic Breitling look - I think it looks terrific and it would tempt me too.I am NOT in the market for another watch, but am currently torn between a Spring Drive GMT and the Aquanaut GMT. One being silly money, the other being remarkable value.

A plus one, for what it's worth. It's just about the only Rolex I've seen in my entire life that I actually quite like. ... why not both?
