Sorry if its been discussed before but I need to get a nice travel case to protect my Tudor black bay when Im travelling.

Seems ideal for a Christmas present as I never know what I want so need to keep the budget at £50 ish as I wont be buying it but can go slightly more if needed. No idea what brands are good or not.

Only have a single watch so no need for any that can take more watches and needs to be a nice size not to take much room in my luggage.

thanks

See if you can find a second hand leather pouch for a Cartier. They are very good.

I use the 'service pouch' that was given to me after getting an Omega serviced a couple of years ago.

It's perfect for travelling. I bought another off eBay recently for £15.

If you're not bothered about it being branded Omega and you want something inexpensive, then I can recommend them...

A little over £50 but currently 15% off so I would top up and go for this:

Search for an Oakley Watch Vault, I think they are discontinued but they are around

A company called Casebuddy make something similar but I prefer the Oakley version

Thanks for the advice guys. The Oakley idea led me to look at a casebudi which looks ideal as it's small and looks fairly robust

I have one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IWC-travel-watch-case-in...

though I paid about £20 for it. I also have a couple of these: https://www.heinnie.com/safe-sound-zip-up-knife-ca... which work really well for storage and travel.

The Casebudi is great for the money. Just in case you haven't noticed, it's available in three different sizes: the regular one takes cases up to 44mm, but there is also Small for watches up to 38mm and large for up to 50mm. Some sellers on eBay don't state which size they're selling...

I'd rather travel with my expensive watch on my wrist where I can keep an eye on it rather than trust it to overnight bags and hotel safes etc.

If I'm not comfortable wearing the posh watch in a dodgy country/area I leave it at home and wear a cheap Casio.

Agreed - nothing like a good wrist.

Oh, that's a good solution.
Ummm, hang on. Now the OP will need a case for the other watch(es) he'll have with him.

What do you do when you go through security at the airport and they ask you to take off your watch?

Do you put you[insert nice watch brand here] in the grey plastic tray that gets thrown about and crammed with stuff?

My watch goes into the protective travel case and then into the tray. Carrying the travel case in hand luggage is essential for me, even if I am only taking one watch with me on the trip.

I put the watch, and my phone in a compartment inside my carry-on wheelie and lock the combination lock. Two minutes later I unlock the wheelie, take the watch and phone out out (after putting my shoes back on, belt, and jacket back on)/

If you use it or not, a travel case is a lot more useful than the big wooden box most watches come in.

When at the airport and asked to take my watch off I put them in to one of the green watch pouches you can buy from a well know auction site before putting in to the tray for scanning.
The watch pouch also works well to keep the watch in during the day whilst in the hotel safe.

I normally just use manufacturer service cases.

I've got quite a few of these:

I put my watch in the tray with my phone and wallet. If I was so scared of hurting it in a tray, I think I'd be terrified of strapping it to my wrist everyday.
