T'was your original post from a few weeks back that actually guided me away from getting my normal go - to favourite style, the classic oyster, I'm very much liking the change. thumbup

Is it the angle or does that look very big on that wrist?
Think either size looks OK - that looks like a 44mm. I got the smaller 40mm in case it did look too big. Funny the difference 4mm makes laugh

Yeah, it is massive! 44mm case. I love it though, my first Panerai and definitely won't be my last.

AFAIR £3020 - possible discounts or around £300 - but hard to find.

Excellent stuff... nothing like acquiring a watch you want; enjoy it (looks great BTW)

Also liking the Luminor on steel bracelet look... that's probably going to cost me...!!

It will indeed frown I got the steel bracelet a while after purchase (have all other straps barring the rubber). Think it was £1100-1200 and its the only one they do that fits so no choice. Really weights it up on the wrist nicely too.

Just on the inflation - what inflation thread and began looking at old ARGOS catalogues
http://retromash.com/argos/

Was it 1989? Wow...!
Well guess their comment of 'outstanding value' ran true

Item 8 .... A mere snip at £29:99

I have found a good source for OEM Panerai bracelets but confess the 1950/original 44mm case differences are supressing my confidence on ordering... could be an expensive F-up yes

Picked up this 1967 Seiko World Time recently...

It feels really nice on the wrist but it's surprisingly difficult to tell the time. Oh, how we suffer for our art.

I bought my first "decent" watch in 1989 after my first pay packet from the big house.

Slate great bi colour Gucci 9000m. Followed it with a champagne coloured dial 9000m a short while afterwards.

Still have both todaysmile

I have to agree ... I think it's easily the most elegant item in my watch case smile
