Wrist Check 2017
Discussion
Picked this up from Watchfinder yesterday .
Mk2. Manual Wind (which I like, easier to keep working between wearing - ie when I am wearing another watch - than an automatic). Circa 1970?
No box or papers but got a very good discount off advertised price when i pointed out a similar watch much cheaper with a different outfit, and they matched the price.
It replaced a Christopher Ward C7 Speedmaster Homage/ copy which i returned with reliability and quality issues. I decided to bite the bullet and go original (well, the Mk2 version of original).
Dont like the strap (Hirsch Ayrton?) but its growing on me already. w in the shirt is coincidence!
Very happy.

Sorry no picture right now, just a question to those of you who buy second hand watches online, how can you trust them? Do you know the watch you are seeking well and use pictures to identify it is genuine? Or are the mainstream websites good enough in checking their vendors? How does it work?
Try chrono24 they have an escrow service, i bought a watch from this week got it verified and then said I was happy for funds to be released to vendor. Very happy as it was as good as promised, also feedback on the seller helps.

I reckon I’ve blown over £40k this year on five pieces via Chrono24. I think generally you can trust them but here is what I do:-1. Ask the questions, get additional photos if needed.
2. I write my T&C’s in the comment box ie “payment made on the basis of.......”
3. Always escrow via C24
4. Always communicate via C24
5. Check out the Dealer:- Bricks and mortar if poss, reviews, helpfulness etc....
6. Always video (time sensitive, time certified) your unboxing. Call out obvious flaws on video.
I’ve had a couple of minor issues on two purchases and this was resolved very quickly with no quibble. There is a 14day no questions asked return policy - but that will cost you plenty in postage and insurance if your dealing with a +£2500 watch for instance. Always video returns being packed just like the unboxing. Helps if there is a claim for them “unpacking an empty box”.
